I don’t see why not. You paid for a service, but that doesn’t meant you have to use it immediately. I’ve had race changes banked up for months at a time when there are discount on the bulk sales. Never lost a single one.
I knew of a very generous guild leader on a small server and he paid for every main-character in the guild to be transferred to a larger server. I don’t think he banked them, but if you could bank them when on sale that’s absolutely the way to go rather than paying full price.
It’s obviously a waste of money if you bank them and they’re not giftable or you can’t personally use them all, but your statement suggests that you can’t envision anyone having 30 alts… I have 11 and I know a few altaholics asking for the cap on 50 characters/server to be raised! 
You may not possibly need that many, but some do (as unreasonable as it sounds).
I wondered what was going on in this thread … how it had 50+ post when it seemed like an innocuous question that could be answered in one word. It had to be something funny.

Yeah I’ve paid for other people’s character services before too when my guild moved from WrA to Stormrage. You can’t gift the banked ones.
I have at least 3 of each class at 70+ (except Priest I only have 2 cuz I hate priest) and I still cannot fathom needing that many character services. Having more characters would decrease the need for the faction/race changes because I probably already have the race/class combo I’m yearning to play.
But whatever, not my money. I’ll never question why Blizz does so many sales or cash shop promos again knowing there’s whales like Wario just giving away his money.
