Can I sell RP character portraits for gold, without breaking the ToS?

It’s something I did a decade ago–way more than I realized actually, I’ll link some samples below–usually in-character as a wandering dwarven painter named Prymal. If I did this again it would only be for in-game gold and, if desired, would be delivered in character.

Again though, I am not sure what Blizzard’s policy in 2022 on this is; a lot has changed.

Here are just a few of the portraits I did in the past, most of which were for strangers…it’s nuts how many people I connected with while doing this back in the day…

If this is risking a ban or problem with blizzard (for me or other folks involved) then I’d rather not…but it sounds fun and I could use the gold, so I figured I would ask.

I sincerely and sorely doubt it.

Don’t rely so much on forum opinions here. Many would just tell you it could result in a ban for the sole purpose of trying to bring you down.

You should be fine Prymal.

Don’t see any reason as to why it would result in a ban, but I’d contact Blizz in regards to it just to make sure.
And if it does result in a ban despite you being told it won’t, well, you got proof that Blizz screwed you over.

Typically Blizzard takes issue with real money for in game items, but I don’t see why in game items (gold, here) would cause an issue for a real-world item. There are a few famous examples of gold exchanged for real-world goods and services. That, as far as I am aware, did not result in bans. I would definitely follow Skelly’s suggestion and check with Blizzard first, however.

Incredible idea, though. I’d love to see you in game!
