Smartphones have existed since 1994. Games for smartphones came out in 1997.
The iPhone 5 was out in 2012, which is when Mists launched.
Yeah, they’re really not fleshed out as much as they could be. I think they just considered them to be a side thing for players, sort of like an event but a permanent one.
Would be cool to see them expand on it. Perhaps add an annual pet battle tournament? They probably want to avoid trying too hard to be like Pokemon, though.
We need more rewards for pet collecting and pet battle imo. I think more people would be interested then.

I’m surprised it isn’t a mobile game yet, and a bit disappointed tbh. It needs to happen. Don’t know what they’re waiting for really.
I’m fairly certain the answer is “Rumble”.
They were going to make one. It was one of two or three they were working on. But it got scrapped and all we got was Rumble.
