Can Frost get a buff? C'mon

Its not rubbish, BoS is a stupid design that forces the players to do 1 thing for all their dmg while any boss mechanic could make a damage window nothing and then your stuck for 2 minutes for the CD

I have seen BoS FDKs since WoD and they have never left. Its never been worthless like Ice-cap. Its ALWAY been a strong build even if a “little” behind the top

And?

If your idea for “game design” is founded in pure spitefulness towards a particular playstyle, then your idea sucks.

I’d just like your take on the idea regardless of how likely it is to come to pass.

Lol, this is how game design works. You don’t try to make everyone happy. At some point they decide something is tiresome and kill it off. This happens in every GaaS type game. There is a meta and sometimes that gets tuned and sometimes the devs hate it and kill it off. This is normal.

Its not pure “spitefulness” its called I like change, I want other things to shine, I dislike 1 thing being a constant “Power house” and you either play it or you fail in the spec, multiple ways to play a spec needs to come out and Frost is a great place to start by reworking BoS to only be stronger in AoE, Obliteration for ST, and reworking ice-cap for a mix of both so its not dominate in 1 but decent in both

Unlikely until we have enough FDK players that don’t obsess over BoS “yuge breathes”. I think we have a very dedicated group of players that want to keep it that way because it’s their gate keeping “i’m good because I can do breathes this long and you can’t”. It’s like the vape smokers who try to do the bigger puffs of smoke.

There to many DW BoS favored people for change… it will take them truly killing it for things to maybe be different then all we will hear is “Bring It Back!”

Depends on the implementation. “KM from frost strike” starts stepping on the toes of obliteration, however. There are a lot of things Blizzard could do to make frost strike more significant than filler for when all your runes are depleted. But I’m not a game designer and even if I were, I’m not in the habit of doing someone else’s job for free.

…Better players should outperform worse players, yes. Didn’t realize that was a controversial take.

It will always end in players trying to show case them being better in a spec than another. Its the reason why a spec changing what its best spec is needs to happen away from everyones comfort.

The biggest issue is right now if I’m using a 2H I can only play one talent as frost. I don’t care about who said what months ago. I’m a paying customer that bought the game and play whats in front of me. I have a very solid IMO 2H weapon that is 213 Ilvl. I’m 205 ilvl score. I know 1h is better but I can’t get the drops. 1H is so much better if I can get pvp 1h in time I will switch to it, even though it has bad stats compared to my dream oblit 2h. I only have this 2H because it’s what dropped. I spec frost loot and have never seen a 1h drop. Even using the 184 honor weapons is almost as good as damage as my 2H. Thats a -30 ilvl difference and barely a downgrade between the two. That is a huge problem. I am flowing with what the game gives me. Because of this I’m have no flexibility and can only play oblit. This is a major problem in game design. Then we have people on here saying it’s my fault because I didn’t read some warning months ago on a forum that I wasn’t apart of at the time.

I hadn’t considered the obliteration interaction but realistically it simply doesn’t matter bc its not like you’re going to gain or lose procs from it.

This is what these forums are for however, to discuss changes, ideas and the state of DKs.

You are trivializing what I said. I specifically said BoS gatekeepers want to keep it so BoS is strongest for everything because they think it makes them better person for playing that spec. It’ doesn’t.

Really the more I see it the more I realize we just have FDK BoS trying to protect their spec as the ultimately spec that everyone should be playing. Buffing it so 2H Oblit is the strongest single target but lacking in AoE is good game design. Right now I will just be happy to fix it so 2h isn’t so far behind compared to DW.

there was no warning, and if there was that person would link it rather than speak to show…

and yes most people agree with you that there is major issues in 2h vs DW… Frost spec as a whole needs reworked at this point to try and get everything working correctly.

that would be the best starting point. the best way i see is nerf the out right ST dmg and give back the AoE part making them even more different

Quote someone saying that. The only defenders voicing their opinions on the matter are protesting the extreme opposite claim that breath should be deleted or deliberately rendered impotent.

Unfortantly I don’t think blizzard scans these much because the most common people here don’t have a inkling of how specs should work, the math behind weapon dmg vs ilvl, which talents need fixed, or the worse is the players who don’t level, or play the class often to know the change

I know

I am just messing with ya.

The minute I see Tyrant, I just immediately think Demo Locks.

A few weapons that you want to target.

Supercollider from “De Other Side”
Sinsmasher from “Sanguine Depths”
or Gorestained Cleaver from “Theater of Pain”

I dont know if the covenants get the same stats on weapons as each other, but the 1h weapons also have the stats that you would want on them from the raid so weapon tokens are a good thing to get as well.

You might know this, might not.

And no Blizzard didnt warn people, the playerbase did for months when this design was going on. People always want Blizzard to be saying something yet complain that Blizzard doesnt communicate enough. No Blizzard isnt going to tell you what specs are good, which ones arent or how to play the spec and they never have. That comes from the playerbase. Many MANY people were saying this direction in design is not a good one.

The only real thing a new player could go off of that Blizzard gives in terms of information about the spec is the preferred weapons under the specialization tab saying “Dual Axes, Maces, Swords.”

I do 2h obliteration
I love the playstyle and wouldn’t change a lot. Probably just one of the following:

  1. pure numbera tuning
  2. add an execute
