It would be nice if caster have another way to stop meeles as they have silence to stop a caster.
The gameplay “run for your life” until your cc or movility are in coldown, its lame.
You do, your class does. The succubus.
Dissarm =/ seducction and damage break the effect
Moonkin have a disarm. I didn’t know shadow priest had one so that’s cool.
Not a disarm unless you mean
in which case i agree.
When did this return? Psychic horror doesn’t disarm anymore
Thank god, and don’t give these brain dead devs any more ideas on how to make their splay / rogue/sp easier.
???
Maybe I have just missed it on my spreist but where do they get a disarm?
Or are you referring to Psychic horror? That’s a stun not a disarm
Yeah, its like a silence phase that all class have, but instead of caster, for melees
That would be the 5m melee require to press buttons.
Everyone has a kick. Everyone has abilities to kite / temporarily stop melee. Obviously modern melee are problematic for this but it still applies
The whole argument where “range equals a disarm” doesn’t apply to the current game. Literally the only melee that doesn’t have 100% uptime on their targets is Ret paladins and maybe enhance.
Kite better. Be better. Melee abilities in spite of the mobility arms race still have a requirement that can be manipulated.
Its not the good old days where frost nova removed them from the game but kiting is absolutely still valuable and works.
Only after Shadow and Demonology aren’t built like dungeon bosses.
I miss snatch on my hunter, go forth bird of prey and bring me back his sword. Really, disarm isn’t too devastating in my experience but stops weapon abilities like death strike so they cannot heal and most of a hunter’s ranged abilities. First time I was disarmed on my hunter I tried to trinket out of it.
Actually right now thats not 100% true, burst of fury warriors, ww and rogue drops instantly the hp bar of any class including warlocks
Be better. Excellent advice professor!
As someone who plays both casters and melee, sorry. There is no kiting the majority of melee specs. They have more mobility, more gap closers than casters have gap openers.
Context also matters. 1v1 is different than in 3s or a large Bg battle. Kiting mechanics like roots for example break from damage. I might be able to kite a warrior to death on my ele shaman in a 1v1, but as soon as the match is transitioned to a team fight, he will have the advantage and have 100% uptime. Also in BGs with objective points, you can’t just kite away whenever you want to.
Thats true, there are more closer abilities than kitting abilities and generally the closer abilities spawn the player in the face of the other player lol, its not a helper to get closer its a “all work done”
Yea, but those good old days required coordinated team work beyond mashing your swifty cooldown macros. Frost nova could easily be dispelled.
Lack of team play requirements like that is why the PvP scene in this game turned into endless mobility for melee and endless instant damage spells by casters like the spriest.
Perhaps we can reduce melee mobility and caster instas at the same time? Bring back that class dependability when dispelling your partners from CC actually mattered?
The problem with rock-paper-scissors was all the complaining about how x beat my y. People demanded balance and that meant homogenization so whoever has the highest dps/hps is OP. Not so simple, I know, but there has definitely been a lot of movement in that direction and away from a more strategic approach to balance which is probably a lot more difficult for them. Like rogues with double legendaries (I think it was Cat).
The Warlock Voidwalker used to have a disarm, I don’t recall when it was taken away, but back in MoP times in wpvp I would use the VW when against melee to stop them from using half their abilities that required a weapon in hand…
…miss my disarm
Yeah I could’ve written that in a way that didn’t come off as preachy & “get good.” - mybad.
Same here, completely disagree. Some melee specs, yeah. You’re not kiting a sub rogue, feral, or a DH. But DK, Warriors, Ret, Enhance, yeah. You can kite those. And even when you can’t kite you can kill depending on the matchup.
My main thing is seeing casters come to the forums, especially the random BG forums, and complain that they’ve got nothing to do but stand there and die, which is how the complaining comes off. Yeah, melee benefit from the mobility arms race. Yeah, it’s way more difficult than it’s ever been to properly keep distance and survive against melee. No, no it’s not impossible. Especially in a BG or open world setting. So
I absolutely agree.
I’d argue that this works both ways. Depending if you’re attacking or defending you can safely peel for yourself by simply ranging the objective they’re defending and get free uptime or let them risk leaving the node.
