Can anyone explain how a socialist raiding guild works?

Paladins are the zealous enforcers of the official state religion, there’s nothing crypto about them.

Communism / socialism always ends up with everyone having an equal share of nothing.

just like grades in school, ir they avg the whole class grade those making 100% will be averaged with those making 20 % or anything else, thus having a lower grade.

They will then decide they might as well drop back to the grade they made effort of work, not 100% for next grade so over all group avg is lower.

Lower performers start threatening the better ones to give them their free stuff until the better performers either become slaves to the lower ones or stop all together, and eventually everyone is avg of 0%

or as someone once said: The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other peoples money.

Reactionary!

It’s like trying to lift yourself up by standing in a bucket and pulling on the handle.

Pulling yourself up by your bootstraps.

If it means I get free health care, I’ll join right now.

Isn’t this just how WoW already operates in 2019

The secret is that any decent guild is going to be at least a little socialist in terms of helping out members. If your guild isn’t, then get out and find a better one.

But since no one calls it “socialist”, everyone just carries on thinking everything’s hunky-dory. That’s how we sneaky leftists gets you.

Ugh, and honestly the just continued rampant abuse of the term socialism, including by me, just grates. Words have meaning people, read some got dang Das Kapital.

That’s ridiculous, are you implying that dumb DPS should get as much DKP as priests who literally save lives? Why should a holy priest spend many more days played to level to 60 just to be rewarded the same as a DPS that power leveled in half the time?

Then way I would do it if I ran a guild I’d make everyone use one of those loot council addons and use master looter, everyone in the run would be part of the loot council and vote on who should get what loot with the master looter distributing the loot to the person receiving the most votes and utilizing /roll in case of ties.

Wow tyranny of the majority much?

it was a political thread from the original post

Exactly, just like any corporation.
We do all the work and the board of directors gets the millions.

Wait, but that is good capitalism and OK when the people on top get the freebees. It is only not OK when the common Joe that does all the work gets the freebees, that is bad socialism. Go figure.

I would say it is a system where the guild regulates the means of production, distribution and exchange of loot… so loot council?

Capitalism would be a DKP-like system where DKP could be dis-proportionally earned by the skill level of those participating, things like running extra raids, hiring people to run raids and earn DKP for you etc

If loot soviet members are not susceptible to immediate democratic recall, it is merely oligarchy.

Normal DKP is pretty much like orthodox labor vouchers though. Being non transferable and not in circulation.

The individual raider receives back from the guild – after vendoring/sharding/material deductions have been made – exactly what he gives to it. What he has given to it is his individual quantum of raiding. For example, the guild raid night consists of the sum of the individual hours of raiding; the individual raid time of the individual raider is the part of the guild raid night contributed by him, his share in it. He receives dragon kill points (DKP) from the guild showing he has furnished such-and-such an amount of raiding (after deducting the share of vendored/sharded/material items for common guild funds); and with these DKP, he draws from the raid drops as much as the same amount of raiding cost. The same amount of raiding which he has given to guild in one form, he receives back another, raid loot.

A guild where everyone gets a free ride even if they’re terribad. Hard pass from me.

All ideology fails

This happened in wrath guild I was in when I was raiding in ICC, I’ll tell you what happened… Everyone left the guild and those people that wanted the loot first (guild leaders) didn’t clear heroic LK (or normal LK for that matter) till cata.

People who advocate this are one of two things
1.INcreibly lucky recipients of the personal loot system.
2.Naiive.

Nothing worth having is ever handed to you.Things you’re earnt are always worth the effort.

Sort of like how 1% of the worlds population controls 99% of the worlds wealth? Nice going socialism.
Imagine this for a second.
20 people in a raid guild farm enough food, flasks, pots and other consumables for a weeks worth of raiding attempts.
The other half of the raid logs in only for raids.

What happens to said guild when they need consumables for a whole raid weekt? they lose the 20 people to another raid guild when they’ve had enough busting their butt for no reward.
