I got a staff as well.
My Warlock got a staff. My Mage got a sword.
I got a staff on my mage and my shaman who I switched to elemental spec.
I got a staff on this character.
He can drop a staff. My Horde Shaman got it.
My gnome mage got a staff; he was specced frost if spec makes a difference.
The Horde version is a big ugly bat on a stick looking thing. The Alliance version is a Night Elf themed one which is kind of cool looking. The Horde one could have been a lot better using different Forsaken art.
i took my frost mage over this am and got a staff from nathanos!! i was happy

My Warlock is Affliction and Mage is Frost.
He dropped a staff for me. On this shaman. My shield and mace were low ilvl so I’m actually using it.
I think Alliance do get bows, he drops Darkshore warfront gear.

It may be the wrong thread but I just want to say the Gear purchased via Commendations or w/e is trash looking tbh. This started in Mists of Pandaria when they just decided to re-skin new upcoming gear. I still remember I was kinda mad about it and thought to myself they must be getting lazy with designing gear. Since this is a special event for Shadowlands, they should of put way more detail in to making it awesome and unique looking compared to other gear
character I don’t use them with got one… so yea, he tends to give you what you don’t actually want =p
Stavfses 
I got the 2H sword that I currently have equipped last night. On Tuesday, my BrM monk got a 1H mace, which was disappointing because she was using a polearm at the time, but then she got a 1H sword from one of the Icecrown rares so she’s good now.

If is just a copy of BFA’s Warfront and PVP gear. Most people will just transmog it and care about the stats for their alts.
