Can any beta tester confirm "Stitches" in Duskwood is patrolling?

yes I did as well as post #3 right after yours.

Stitches doesn’t seem to be behaving correctly.

Agro behavior vs pathing. If you do not include the knowledge of the current beta bug. The OP, specifically asked about pathing, which has always been functioning correctly.

If the OP asked about agro it’s possible the OP would have gotten different replies.

Psshh baby alliance getting murdered by stitches is standard practice, fix it!

Meanwhile, getting mauled to death by Sons of Arugal in silverpine.

Glad to hear that one is working correctly.

This noob thought there was only 1 Son and was totally caught off guard when one shotted by a second. I was like “how did he get over here so quick ?”

This is correct. He doesn’t randomly patrol, even if it often felt like that for players who weren’t the ones turning in the quest but were in his path from the graveyard to Darkshire.

That said, the behavior being described of Stitches going neutral when reaching town definitely sounds bugged.

it’s not bugged…that was a change in some subsequent expansion.
I’ve seen comment about that under 2.x in wowhead.

At some point when stitches killed the guards even more guards spawned so that stitches was eventually killed by the guards if no players participated.

Well let’s hope it’s a bug. I have vivid memories of Stitches barreling into Darkshire and killing pretty much anything that got in his way. It was great fun.

And why, over the years, did Blizzard neutralize npcs and events so much? I’ve never understood that. It’s not as if you couldn’t avoid Stitches easily.

He never just patrolled. He is summoned on completion of a quest chain.

he used to be summoned on finalizing the crazy old man in the tower quests [ The Hermit] ambercrombie… he would spawn on the west end grave yard of duskwood. in full AGGRESSIVE status. march slowly towards town murdering lvl 15-30 characters on the way. I believe he was a 35 Elite in vanilla. maybee 42? He would get into town [darkshire] full agressive and start murdering everyone. the “night watch” guards would spawn and he would slaughter most of them too.

If i remember right there was some lvl 45 or 60 alliance NPC that would finally finish him.

Stitches knows something is off. During his walk he gets an overwhelming feeling of deja vu, which distresses him greatly. He goes to town looking for answers, but never gets any. Eventually he fades back to the nether, but on some level he knows he will be summoned again, and again, doomed to never find resolution for his mystery or a purpose to his existence.

I doubt it was intentional. A lot of times in beta so far some things get broken when they fix other things. Hunter class for example has had several things fixed while other things stopped working patch to patch. Its just a part of the patching process.

Stitches is serious bizness. Blizz must get this one right, he is pretty integral to Duskwood, which is still my fav zone of all time. If Stitches ends up borked it’s gonna be a buzz kill of epic proportions.

I leveled a lot of characters in Vanilla and I remember Stitches being hostile on my earlier characters and neutral on later ones. I think a lot of players complained about being killed on the road by him and he got nerfed at some point. Of course that’s just how I remember it. It is totally possible that my brain decided to revise that memory.

If he’s despawning without a fight though, then that is definitely weird. I’m not in the beta to see it for myself though. Has anyone captured it on a stream?

Stitches was a miss-con. But then so was Guard Backus, who I would try to kite Snitches to if I could.

If I am getting nostaglically pwned by an NPC, then its going to be the sneaky SOB that is the Son of Arugal. Stitches was epic. To him for the first time on my first MMO…
