Camera bork, won't follow behind me

I’m a dirty wasdqe mover rather than mouse mover. The way my keybinds and controls are set up are very particular which makes mouse movement especially in combat suboptimal.

But lately (idk how long couple weeks maybe?) my camera refuses to auto-move behind me and often gets stuck to the side. Making movement really janky. I can cope with this in many instances but it is making m+ and raiding a bit awkward because I have to waste time fixing it or trying to compensate for it.

In some ways it reminds me of the FFXIV camera which I’m used to but not exactly because ffxiv camera caused S to make you run backwards rather than backpeddle. This is still causing me to backpeddle.

I have scoured the settings and can’t figure out how to fix it.

Like the camera will stay where it is when I turn it. But if it gets adjusts at all such as from using abilities like charge, hover, blink, etc it won’t auto centre in the back like it used to. It’ll now be turned to the side and won’t fix itself forcing me to manually fix it every time.

If you look under the controls page, on the bottom, should be camera following. I always turn this to Never Adjust Camera.

That hasn’t helped I am having the identical issue.

In the Game Menu(Esc key)->Options, search in the upper right for Camera Following Style (or find it in Game Menu(Esc key)->Options->Game tab->Gameplay->Controls at the bottom, as Kozzae described) and try each setting provided - by your description, I believe you want Always Adjust Camera.

Additionally, your mention of high movement abilities causing issues makes me ponder if enabling the Motion Sickness setting could have a positive impact - you can consider this step an optional followup to pursue if the first solution is ineffective.

Again in the Game Menu(Esc key)->Options, search in the upper right for Motion Sickness.

You’re looking for the search result in General->Motion Sickness (a box you can tick on or off) - try turning this on in addition to the changes to Camera Following Style and see if it produces the desired result.

I tried both and neither helped.

Not sure why it’s like this.

If my camera is in front of me (facing my characters face) it no longer resesets to behind them (facing the back of their head) with movement like it used to. And it’s constantly getting adjusted to the side of me or even sometimes in front even when Idon’t manually move the camera.

I havent seen it mentioned but have u tried a FULL UI reset not the same as disabling or uninstalling addons.

I’ve been getting this too. Would suggest a bug report. Do also follow the advice to have camera never turn - it doesn’t stop the bug when you go between things that force shift your camera, but it does mean you can fix it more easily by repositioning camera and it won’t snap back to bugged side position.

This happens to me every time I enter a barber chair or go into the mount customization screen. I always have to simply log off the character to fix this. I haven’t found an option setting that corrects this.

Sounds like a bug report candidate, maybe residual from a vehicle quest, it’s happened in the past with camera anomalies.

An on-the-fly temp fix you can try is assigning a key to the ‘Center Camera’ key-bind, if you haven’t already tried. Not sure if the weirdness will return it to behind you or center it the way it’s facing.
