redeemed a one day gift of wow time that said It wouldnt count until i hit play. I hit play today and guess what. no day was given. So i guess my answer to coming back to see if i want to resub has been answered by ineptitude. Transaction of gift jun 20 2025, last time played dec 23 2024
Do you happen to have more than 1 wow licence?
claimed to my one account
This would be a first that I’ve seen-- game time gift claims have almost always started ticking down from the moment they’re claimed/applied.
Do you remember what the credit was for, perhaps a promotion that could help us start diving into it?
It was given back when we had extended outage last year during the pre-patch for TWW. I still have mine in my gifts.
EDITED TO ADD SCREENSHOT OF HOW IT APPEARS IN GIFTS:
Was it this 1 day of gifted time? If so, no where does it say it won’t start ticking down until you hit play, it just says it has to be claimed by July 23rd.
I’m with Ekon and I’ve never heard of game time not being consumed upon claiming.
I’m actually wondering, would it be possible need active game time or subscription within the account to claim the game time?
Nope. I just put it on my unsubbed WoW2 license. I needed to do some JC stuff on an alt there anyways. That alt is currently crafting and has full access to everything (mail, AH, warband bank, etc.).
Ah, so I can rule that out then.
Exactly as I described. Downloaded wow, got the i need to update Bios, just finished that. Still not one day i can access with the game. The game time token i had to redeem because i would expire if I hadn’t.
I do have a question on the topic; where’d one look to see where if they already used said day time token? I didn’t see it in my gifts, and I don’t believe I see it in my transaction history.
It shows up in your Gifts History. I had two paid accounts at the time and shows up as “World of Warcraft® Game Time” with that date.
It doesn’t state it’s for 1 day, but it’s also the only gifted time I’ve received so easy to narrow down.
Edit: actually I may have misunderstood your question. The above tells you you’ve claimed it, but I guess it wouldn’t say if you’ve used up the 1 day or not yet.
So does my gift expire after claiming it and not clicking the play button * scroll up to see what i saw*. because That’s where I am.
As Jeysca said, it does show up in your Gift Claims history but doesn’t designate the amount of time claimed.

Game time compensations in the past with similar threads have carried the same understanding as well (haven’t seen a Blizz post on it yet), but you’ll have to wait for an SFA to come along tomorrow (or late late tonight, perhaps) if you’re looking for an official answer-- bear in mind you may not get one at all.
It’d be easy to test with a friend if the gift claimed message Kyzera shared is just standard across the whole shop (game time, mounts, transmog, etc), but alas. Payday is next week.
The “gift” was gifted to me a year ago I had maybe a week left to claim it. So i did. Said Next time i click play, it would count, No disclaimer of must have active sub. Wanted to use it as my should bother coming back after seeing whats going on, gift.
Odd, mine showed it was good til 23 JULY 2025.
Initially, it was due to expire on 30 June 2025, but a little while back it was bumped til 23 July 2025.
I stopped playing 12/23/24 so im not sure if something else happened. But i could have read it wrong. Anyway to see that message after claiming? Or do you just save screenshots for future reference? Mine just says claimed 6/20/2025 on the account page
I have soooo many screenshots. Yes, I do tend to try and record things as much as I can.
I do not believe so as mine vanished from my Gifts menu in the Launcher after I claimed it and clicked the button that showed up after I clicked CLAIM.
