Calia menethil

Hush, it’s as close as I can get to being a baddie.

Won’t work, people have been trying that with DH for years.

Calia is the rightful ruler of the kingdom of Lordaeron and all its people.
Those who persist in calling themselves “forsaken” and swearing allegiance to the foreign usurper Sylvanas should be executed as the traitors they are and sent to their defeated bandit queen in the Maw. Those loyal citizens of Lordaeron who remain afflicted by the curse of undeath will be given what accommodations are deemed appropriate until such a time as the last of them finally rot away.

Or

Hear me out

You let characters actually have arcs and story telling. Not all characters are meant to be great right away. Instantly trying to kill off every character is just gonna lead to more characters nobody wants in a endless loop

Blizzard writing off Sylvanas through bad writing (thanks Afrasiabi) and replacing with with miss glo-brite Calia really make me mourn the Forsaken faction :frowning:

I feel like Calia is a character they could have done something interesting with, but hey haven’t done it yet. So far she feels very vanilla.

Honest answer? Not edgy enough. It all originates from the same place as the “Garrosh did nothing wrong” crowd. They’re lamenting that their choice of race in-game is not coming off nearly as edgy as what they perceived.

Edit: I didn’t bother reading the whole thread until after I posted. But here’s my point.

They should have brought Calia back as the Crusader Queen of the scarlet crusade. That would be fun, and they clearly want take-backsies on the last twelve times they’ve eliminated the crusade “for good”.

Sweetie pie Calia who’s the worlds first and best holy light zombie is just the worst. It’s several layers of bad.

I don’t like Garrosh, but yeah, the aesthetic of the Forsaken has always been edgy. What people signed on for when creating their characters was that. So that goth, edgy stuff should remain. They can put her somewhere else in the game where she fits in better.

Calia is like a requel. She’s connected to the past but new. She’s her own person but anti sylvanas.

I’ll say it.

Since Earthen are going to be a Neutral Allied race, and while I much rather prefer a Tauren or Troll like species would be more fitting, its definitely an option that some sort of Forsaken/Undead would be an upcoming Neutral Allied Race as well. Given that Horde will gain access to Dwarf-kin, the Alliance should get a Horde-ish core race in return as well.

The real problem with Calia for me is that she came out of nowhere. Sure, back when they were alive she was some young princess.

So an Alliance chick who has been nowhere all this time shows up all pretty, unlike every Forsaken and says I am like you too and becomes part of the leadership over Forsaken who have been around and known for all this time?

It has no buildup, no reason as to why she is so readily accepted?

I would be less annoyed if she was trying to prove herself rather than representing the Forsaken in any way. Be there as an advisor because she is known to the Alliance.

The way Blizzard has been handling the stoylines has been insipid and that is what is most disappointing.

Yeah this is just the story writers giving us the middle finger because it’s like you said… makes no sense.

We’ve been told, by the old writers, that the Light causes the undead to get their feelings back, and I’m not talking about emotions. The examples they gave were they could taste their rotting tongue and feel their rotting skin. These are sensations that are not pleasant to the Forsaken.

Calia is Lightforged and a priest (not shadow obviously) so it should be extremely unpleasant for any undead to hang around her so why would the Forsaken welcome her with open arms?

And this isn’t even going into the fact that some Forsaken should be giving her the side eye for being a Menethil, being missing for so long, and always being on the Alliance’s side.

There’s also Voss. I have no idea why she’s been thrust into a leadership position and her being around a lot isn’t an answer. Look at the other Council members. “Deathstalker Commander”, “Dark Ranger”, “Master Apothecary”. These are all leaders of some organization within the Forsaken. The only thing I really remember of Voss, outside her Cata origin story , was she was a follower in Legion and BfA too IIRC. How does that make her qualified to be a leader?

My personal reasons for not being crazy about Voss is she’s not a real Forsaken. She wasn’t raised by Arthas, she was raised by Sylvanas’s angel chicks.

I just don’t understand their direction with the Forsaken. Gone are the days of Forsaken characters like Calder Gray. Now instead of being badass zombies they’re just misunderstood tragic characters.

Kill her off i say. Let a paladin do it.

Edit: actually, a forsaken should do it. and then says: “For the Dark Lady” XD

Calia is a result of BlizZard not understanding what the Forsaken are about.

It is like throwing pineapple on pizza. Sure you can do it (btw I do enjoy pineapple and ham pizza). But why do it all the time? Big no no. You must be delulu as the young kids say these days.

I think they do know what they are about but decided that they dont like that so lets change it. Kindof like with most of the things in wow post Legion, they should stop doing that and hopefully with Metzen back that is the case

It all boils down to bad writing. Calia’s gone through none of the woes of being Forsaken so instantly jumping into their good graces is just absurd.

Like if she was raised as Forsaken in WoD or BFA, then experienced the misery of Forsaken in SL, then was also fixed by the Kyrians or something in SL, maybe then she’d be “Forsaken Leader” material.

Otherwise she’s just a shoehorn. The writers are forcing her into a role, certain players believe the writers are infallible, and those of us who truly love the faction have no choice but to accept it all. It really sucks.

I mean they opened Warlock to all races and that was a huge slap in the face to the lore. I guess it’s our turn to experience the pain. It just feels so wrong because it’s been ramped up by what could have been a good story and is instead a massive flop.

I never got all the hate for Calia, personally. She’s okay.

Calia needs raise the dead to be like her, so she can gain more support among the undead.
