Tbf the brokers are the ones who capture and keep them.
And I mean with accents like that, they could get away with anything. Turns out they do! Like capturing pure raging void demi-gods, the dark side of an already dubious celestial race who are known for waging war across the cosmos.
But Maldraxxi are like, icky undead guys. Ew. Calia just has amazing cheekbones, so she can get away with being an undead. But I think that’s just good contouring. Anduin has been practicing his drag make-up on her, 100%.
I’m saying the Maldraxxi are regular people, but WWE. Your perception of them is biased by Draka and her friends at the House of the Chosen, but an obsession with Honor is not a condition to get in Maldraxxus.
The characteristics that send people to Maldraxxus are being unyielding, ambitious and contentious.
That means they all keep trying to be the very best and never give up! Which makes them the perfect soldiers to protect the afterlife. They guarantee that the spirit of everybody’s dead great grandma will continue to exist forever.
But when the God of the land disappeared, some among them decided to pursue other goals. That makes them… very human and lifelike.

There was a theory a while ago that Calia might have been Taelia’s mother, and that Bolvar and Taelia were the unnamed husband and daughter that she was separated from when Lordaeron fell. So when I saw Calia and Taelia together in front of Bolvar in Oribos, I was hoping there would be some hint to maybe this theory having some substance.
Nope. Just a really lackluster reunion between the 2nd Rate Lich King and his estranged offspring, and Calia just randomly being there I guess as the “Horde representative.” Bah.
Precisely why Kel’thuzad ended up in Maldraxxus. I can’t name a single other lore character with that much pure drive to succeed. And he was devoid of all honour.

I like her approach to undead “life”. She looks like a great character and I hope she gets some cool development soon.

At one point they summoned me and threw me in the Theatre of Pain…killed a few thousand, had some fun, 10/10 would slaughter again
