Don’t worry my friends.
Soon Sylvanas, Magatha and Gallywix will return to the Horde and cleanse it from all the filth who wish to work with the alliance. Then we can have another war and make sure all of Azeroth will belong to the Horde for good.
The Horde shall rise again.

Sorry, the Alliance players just came out of a meeting with the writers. In 11.0 Sylvanas will be coming back from the Maw as an Alliance character. Now that her soul is whole, she hates the Horde again. The three Windrunner Sisters reunite on the faction they belong.
Magatha will join the Horde and be a raid boss in 11.0. Gallywix is going to choke on a donut off screen, but the Horde players give it to him so they can still kill their own.

You jest but that’s exactly what I expect from this current writing team and why I will not be buying Dragonflight.

nice trolling attempt. But I know you have no power. Once Golden is ousted the Horde can rise to glory again and cleas the world from alliance filth like yourself. The Alliance will fall. Erevien is coming for you. Expect me. Lok’tar!
I think Meryl Felstorm rose himself as undead with his arcane magic.

See you in the cross-faction raid, Siege of Orgrimmar 3: Return of the Alliance.

Honestly this has made me interested in buying it. They did the Forsaken justice. Everything about how Calia will ruin it down the line is 100% hypothetical. The complaints about her and Derek remind me about the much ado about how the Belves would ruin the Horde. Ditto for Vulpera.
The conversation between the Governors on Calia mirrored conversations I’ve had here. So looks like theyre actually listening which is good.
And to give you an idea where I’m at, I’m aware there’s some stuff involving Sylvanas and Anduin, and I have zero interest in doing it or even looking it up on YouTube. As I had more than enough of them even before I read a book about them.
I’m never one to pull punches with Blizzard but I give credit where it’s due and I’m completely satisfied with where the Forsaken are at, at least at time of writing.
Could they screw it up down the line? Of course. But this seemed a gesture of good faith and if nothing else the salty, salty tears of MHPs will sustain me for some time to come.

Only powerful Liches can do that. It was always hinted that he had the skill to become a lich. Still more connected to Death than Arcane.
I mean. The Drust are already a thing.
Calia and Derek are offbrand Sylvanas and Nathanos. Very dumb.

Sylvanas and Nathanos need to return and make the Forsaken great again.

Yes, this.
Which makes me worried that they have just replaced Sylvanas and Nathanos. That’s it then?

It’s just another example of making Horde characters and storylines hang off the Alliance “tree” instead of standing on their own. Do not like.

How?
I guess I’ll double check but I don’t recall them interacting or any reference to Derek as champion. Just stands in the cemetary next to Stone as Voss gives them the cliff notes on WTF is going on.
Ya’ll are really making mountains out of mole hills on this one.

It was reported on Wowhead.
Okay well I didn’t see it. I’m definitely going to replay it once I get another toon to 60 but I’m 90% sure Derek does nothing outside stand in the Brill cemetary.
The irony of Derek being Calia’s champion is that he was supposedly created to be a timebomb that would wound the Alliance from the inside, and now he’s in a position to do the same to the Horde.
Jaina is such a unpredictable wild card that I wouldn’t be surprised if she, with Derek’s consent, appropriated whatever Sylvanas’ plan was with him and sent Derek back into the Horde just in case she needed to do some damage to the Horde in the future.
I don’t think the writers had this in mind when they wrote him back into the Forsaken narrative since their priority right now is to repair their relationship with the playerbase, but I wouldn’t doubt that some writer down the line might try something like this with Derek.

That wasnt Sylvanas’s plan though. She planned on Baine freeing him to incite a civil war to cause more death, as that was her one and only goal.
You free Derek as a loyalist. Just undercover. It doesn’t make any sense but nothing Sylvanas has done since Legion did so, it’s not inconsistent at least.
Also I doubt Jania is going to use her brother as a grenade. That would be wildly sadistic even for peak mustache twirling Sylvanas.

I don’t think they have anything nefarious planned with Derek. I just think they made this decision without thinking it through first.
Again, another choice this writing team made that falls apart with closer inspection.
Do they take us all for fools?

Not just idiotic. A retcon from what had been established by the original writers. If anyone remembers the old “Ask CDev” stuff, they made a point to explain that the necromancy that had raised the Forsaken cut them off from the Light, and said losing contact with the Light had major effects on their mental state.
In their rush to make Calia more relatable to Forsaken, they’ve kind of retroactively made the Forsaken way more culpable for all their evil acts by removing the significance of shadow-based necromancy cutting them off from the Light.
