With all the drama surrounding Snow White, I thought about what it would be like to have a movie studio that focuses on following the source material exactly as written.
The first phase should be movies of all these watered-down Disney versions to show people that many of these stories are a lot darker and do not have happy endings. Many would also be rated R.
In The Little Mermaid, Ariel dissolves into seafoam
In Pinocchio, Pinocchio smashes Jiminy Cricket with a hammer.
Sleeping Beauty has issues I will not speak of here.
They would be quite an eye opener for people who have become used to the Disney fairytales.
There will be the purists who always wanted by the book movies and then there are the curious. Select a target audience and focus on them. If you try to please everyone, you’ll please no one.
Snow White had an estimated budget around 250 million dollars not including marketing… Godzilla Minus One had a 10 to 15 million dollar budget.
