But Summon Darkglare was never a 1-minute cooldown...?

Continuing the discussion from FEEDBACK: Warlocks:

I am so confused by this statement from the official Warlock Blue Post for Midnight Warlock Feedback on Affliction. I get it could be a mistake. But the length at which they’ve written about it leads me to genuinely believe they think Summon Darkglare is a 1-minute cooldown right now.

And this here explains why Aff was never taken seriously from development… Because they obviously have NFI what is actually in live.

I’m genuinely curious if a change was supposed to be implemented at some point during The War Within to make Summon Darkglare a 1-minute cooldown, and they just never did it and thought they had.

As if we needed more evidence that Blizz is just cooking numbers and never actually plays the game in a live server, especially outside of top-tier endgame and/or PVP.

Shocked but not surprised.

Although most of us already knew this, that statement proves two things:

  1. The Devs don’t play or even test warlocks
  2. The Devs don’t think about PvP at all (why would a longer cooldown on an a spell be a good thing?)

I’ve been saying for a long time that Blizzard’s balance team has no interest in warlocks, but I never thought their lack of interest would reach this level.

Lol it looks like they just completely deleted that section of the article.

I believe they meant to say this:

Lastly, we are introducing a new 1 minute cooldown: Dark Harvest. This is an experimental channeled spell that mirrors Malefic Rapture in some ways but instead of scaling per DoT it only needs a single DoT to maximize its throughput. Let us know what you think about this new cooldown and the other changes to Afflictions as we’re excited to hear your thoughts!

Perhaps there was an early midnight build where they made SDG a 1min CD thus the devs confusion.

Darkglare just needs to be removed. Doesn’t really fit the class fantasy imo. Give it something similar to Malevolence, which is more thematic.

They literally don’t even know the basics of the spec they’re designing

I wouldn’t hold too much stock in that little mistake they made. In a MrGM interview, Ion already addressed that little things like that in the patch notes came from them running 2 alpha builds at once. At some point in a previous build with the new Aff they thought about having Darkglare on a 1 minute CD. Then decided against it because it became too unwieldy trying to ensure 5 shards were pooled every minute. So it was moved back to 2.

It feels that way, capping the imps in demonology doesn’t do anything but kill half the fun of being a demon commander. My favorite thing was seeing how many imps I could keep active during boss fights alongside my other summons but capping it at 9-12 is honestly really wack

The person doing the patchnotes is not the same as the developers, they probably get like huge HUGE amount of changelogs and handwritten notes from the developer team and tasked them to order them in a comprehensible and readable format.

As this there are two explanations.

1 - During some moment of Internal Developement Darkglare became a 1 minute CD, then they increased it back again to 2 minutes.

CM noticed the 1min>2min note but didn’t realize that in TWW its currently 2min already.

2 - Some note let to caused confusion between Affliction intermitent cooldown (1minute, in TWW thats Soul Rot, in Midnight that will be Dark Harvest) and Major Cooldown (Darkglare) who cause the belief.

More than likely it’s due to 1, this thing happens a lot in early alpha.

Exemples of this in the past is how Shadowlands Alpha talked about bringing Hand of Doom and some BFA effects back, none of those saw the light of day once alpha came online.

Perhaps this is the wrong place to post this comment regarding feedback via the affliction warlock in midnight. Has blizzard had any thought on possibly adding the pvp talent “Jinx” to the talent tree for affliction warlocks. This would provide another way to apply dots but at the cost of a soul shard.

I hope there would be a glyph for darkglare coming. Its not very pleasant looking to use.
