We’re still not able to get a reply about the end of season discount???
With blizzard currently bleeding players and subs, I honestly woulda thought they would give us an answer seing as so many people seem to be relying on this catchup mechanic to stay relevant

Their incompetence is precisely why they are bleeding subs, so although disappointing it isn’t that surprising that they flat out refuse to respond.

i wonder how many people will quit if they just nuke our pts tomorrow
Do we know if the S1 Gear goes to honor Tuesday, or is it when S3 starts
I 100% will quit if they did that lol
So when will season/phase 3 start?

Prepare to quit. Because that is what they did originally.
Blizzard? Hello? This policy of zero communication isn’t sustainable. We need an answer before reset tomorrow. Thanks
Really would be nice to get some answer but if Blizzard hasn’t responded yet I wouldn’t hold your breath. I’m going to assume it’s the same as phase 1. If not and they wipe all my arena points I’m going to end my subscription because that’s rediculous.
I wonder if it might be wise to spend all the arena points tonight before reset, but don’t equip the items. Just horde them in your bags. Then, at reset, if points are wiped, at least you have some gear. If the points are not wiped and there is a discount, you can sell the items back to the vendor for a full refund and then repurchase everything at the discounted rate (in theory).
I guess a potential downside would be if you sell them back to the vendor and it doesn’t refund you what you originally spent, but only gives you the half off amount back, then you’d be out a boat load of points. Ugh. Yeah, we need an answer from Blizzard… if they have anyone left working there who even knows.
Why would they not handle it the exact same way they handled season 1 to 2’s transition?

For the reasons listed above. S1 was shortened (only 3 months long as opposed to 4 months for S2) and there was a bug that assumed a rating of like 1500 instead of 0 so the point calculation was negatively distorted. Neither of those scenarios are true for S2.
And that has what to do with the point discount on season 2 gear
…the reason they discounted the S1 gear by 50% was due to the above scenarios which do not exist currently in S2. Therefore the S2 “discount” may not happen and has not been confirmed by Blizzard. That’s why people are asking for clarity.
Did blizzard actually state that the reason they put the season 1 gear up and allowed everyone to buy it for cheap was directly because of the aforementioned irregularities in season 1?
No. Also, IIRC, they didn’t officially confirm the discounts/rating req removals last time either. It was all just speculation based on what was seen on the PTR. So worst case scenario, we don’t get the off-season discounts/rating req removals this time, BUT it’d be silly for the arena points to reset at the end of this season rather than the beginning of the next.

But that being said, it’ll be pretty upsetting if the off-season week(s) isn’t treated the same this season as it was last. As of last week, I’m arena point-capped and have 2x Mongoose mats, leg armor, shoulder enchants, etc. sitting in the bank. Probably gonna quit if they don’t do that this time, lol.
I just did a blue post and Blizzard rep interview search. Holly from Blizzard and the subsequent blue post did mention the off season, but they NEVER specified the 50% discount. Originally in TBC the discount was allegedly 20% off, and on the classic TBC PTR it was also initially 20% off, but then it changed to 50% off, and then back to full price.
Up until the actual date of reset there were people asking for clarity and they never received it. There were mixed messages and essentially zero communication from Blizzard explaining the details, so nothing was known for sure until it actually happened.
We find ourselves in a similar situation right now, asking for clarity and not receiving it, leaving us with mere speculation. Could there be a 20% discount? Could there be a 50% discount? Could there be no discount at all?
With a longer season and the 1500 rating bug corrected, we know that the circumstances of S2 are different than they were for S1, but the question is what will Blizzard do about it? They refuse to give any detail so I guess we’ll find out tomorrow and there will be people who are upset no matter what path Blizzard chooses simply because they won’t communicate.

There’s a two hour timer where it will become soulbound. If you logout the timer continues.
Incorrect. I bought the gloves this morning but did not equip. Logged off. Just logged on for a second to check. Still shows 1 hour 58 minutes remaining on the timer. I tried to sell it back to the vendor and it gave me the option of a full point refund.
