Burning Crusade Classic Season 2 Ends January 11

the honor gained and prices are still and always have been correct, the game is just very old and the rates are from a much more grindy era, the barrier to entry for pvp has been a problem all of tbc and nothing seems to make it better so far so lowering honor costs seems obvious to me

Also people are getting PVE gear WAAAAAAAY faster than what people got back in the day, so they really should adjust honor gain/costs to compensate for that.

So… your solution to fixing arena participation is to require someone to sink 100% of their game time into farming BGs so that by the end of a season they can have a full set of off-pieces? Only to… do that all over again?

You understand the logic behind them increasing arena point gains right? Or do you think that someone should also be required to have a 2.2k 5s in order to fully gear by the end of a season?

  • The entire phase schedule is built around arena. The ridiculous phase 1 that never existed in retail and went on way too long was purely to fit in an arena season.

  • They shifted arena gearing by a season too solely to keep PvE gear out of arena. Season 2 didn’t start in retail until BT/Hyjal released.

  • They even went out of their way to give the original arena maps with those stupid tornadoes.

  • Then there’s the end of season discounted arena gear which wasn’t a thing so early.

  • The ONLY negative for arena has been the change to the rating system… which was done to prevent boosted point farming and arguably was a good thing. Regardless of its effect, its yet another example of focus being on arena.

Meanwhile PvE has been an afterthought every step of the way. Have some perspective.

This is true. A lot of people came back JUST for arena. Now a good bunch are waiting for wrath, as TBC arena is very, very broken.

RNG from hell

It is certainly attainable, not impossible to get gear at a decent pace. However, what AB games do you end up in? I think the shortest AB I have been in since returning is 20 minutes, if its 3-2, it usually goes for 25-28 minutes a game, 30 if its really close. Considering the honor you’re getting, it does feel a bit draining.

But one person here seems to think I just want loot instantly because I just came back, I never said that. I am aware that TBC is a game from an era where grinding relentlessly was completely normal, and most of us were kids at the time. Sadly, that isn’t our reality now, and we just need to come to terms with being unable to get gear at a reasonable pace, this isn’t retail after all.

At least getting gear does get easier over time, and I assume phase 3 will yet again bump down the outrageous costs for PvP gear.

The honor gained is correct for 2.4.3, when honor prices were reduced. The honor gained was reasonable for the lower cost of gear. This allowed people to stockpile points for the next season to spend as it hit. In previous iterations you could only store so much that you could buy one piece of gear. What they have seemingly done is kept the old prices but used the latest version of TBC where honor gained was at its lowest.

In season one the amount of arena points that most people would earn weekly was laughable. Hour long queues were only solved with faction vs faction BGs late into TBCC where a lot of people had quit or lost the desire to grind honor. Not to mention the extremely high time demand in order to get pvp gear. PVE gear was what you would mainly see in arena because of this.

If they’ve accommodated pvp more than PVE it hasn’t felt like it to pvp’ers.

To me atleast, it feels like they haven’t been accommodating to either side.

lol, everyone’s being rather brutal/rude here, but I kind of agree with them that I don’t think anyone shares your ‘bummer’ vibes on it only being 17 weeks. It’s been time.

man, I reeeeeally hope it plays out the same way, otherwise thats 5k arena points wasted… lol

We still have the week to spend the points right? (11th - 18th) Worst case scenario is the 5k arena points only get us a couple pieces at full price.

This makes me smile.

Compared to PvE because its much easier to become good at old content than dynamic pvp metas. I honestly dont know how they could come up with a number or “goldilocks zone” on how long the PvP gear should take compared to the PvE gear. We are just really good at farming old content lol.

As a whole its just another grind like any other in this game, its nothing over the top, but it feels that way when the PvE bosses just fall over, while people’s teams are hard stuck at 1500 after taking a month to get there.

I have no solutions here just saying idk what to do lol.

yeah yeah, when is WOTLK classic coming?

TBC is just WOTLK waiting room for me.

The sensible way to do it is to discount the season 2 gear the same way season 1 gear has been discounted in season 2. And then release the season 1 gear as either honor purchasable or through rep.

Fair enough, but a waiting room with fun games to play is better.
