What about the gear grind though?
Honor gear used to cost 1k-2k honor per piece.
The prices on classic TBC is 15k-20k for a single piece of gear.
But the amount of honor received from completing a BG is the same.
Everything costs 10x the price. even with a 20% discount it will still cost 8x the price.
Instead of a 50+ hour grind for a full set of honor gear you’re looking at 500+ hours.
Battlegrounds was my main reason for coming back to classic TBC. But if it’s that much of a grind, I’d rather not even bother at this point.
Its already way too late though. All the sweaties came to horde because of the racials, and stayed there because it doesnt matter after TBC and no point to change. Youll get some PvP players going back to ally in WOTLK for the human racial, but thats a very minor number of players.
Just amazing how nobody had any issues with the sweaties all playing alliance in vanilla because of how much better the paladin is versus a shaman, but everyone loses their mind when it goes the opposite way for TBC.
Lol right? If the queues are too long, i just dont queue and log off and run a dota or something. Im not going to log out, delete my hundreds of days played characters, and reroll alliance for a warsong gulch.
I think these salty alliance actually think people log out of level 70 characters and reroll based on BG queues. The logic is hilarious
I know a lot of horde feel the same way you do. The thing is that I never felt the queues made the game unplayable at all. I got like 100 mana thistle and many other herbs while sitting in the queues. I’d say I got enough matts for probably 3 months of raiding. It was relaxing: queue up for 3 of the BGs, do some farming and world PVP, fight some allies in BGs and get some honor. so that was my perspective on the queues - they were simply no big deal.
As for arenas there are 5 rep pieces being added which should help with the arena entry gear. Overall I just feel like the arena thing is almost like a cop out. Arenas make sense in the lore though and you also don’t get honor points in arenas. Note honor points still say “Honor points are gained from killing the opposite faction in PVP combat” which at this point is a flat out lie, for horde anyway.
I just do not see these BGs as being or feeling in any way authentic to the faction vs faction game that World of Warcraft was based on and therefore I have no choice but to not play them. I already started backing away from them and really haven’t PVPed much on my horde in like 7 weeks so I’m not as annoyed as I was back and have lately mostly stayed of of these conversations. An opt out would have been nice for those of us who want to play horde vs alliance but never happened so it’s just that 5% that feel this way simply cannot do BGs on our horde other than AV at all. The battlegrounds feel fake and the only choice is /afk until you get a real one, which is really annoying.
Now as for your comments about the spiteful alliance I get your point but the issue is that at the same time as all this was happening there were a bunch of servers imploding and Blizzard decided to “fix” these queue times but did absolutely nothing to address the server issues, and the server issues are still ongoing and are imo a far bigger problem than waiting 15 minutes for a BG ever was. So people, including myself, feel like the real issues aren’t being looked at.
This is the laziest way to fix faction imbalance, HvH ques and alliance get runecloth for the 1/10 games they win. Why not actually address the faction imbalance and offer free faction changes to ally? Welcome to World of Hordecraft.
The problem is that Blizzard doesn’t care about real issues like faction balance, they care about non-issues like battleground queues.
Queues have been a part of WoW BGs for a very long time and still are in Retail. I sat in the long TBCC queues on my horde and never once considered the BGs unplayable because they never were. Sit in the queue, you get into a BG. It was never a problem. So why focus on a solution for this? Or if some people don’t want to wait why not let them free transfer horde to alliance and actually fix two things at once. Who knows.
The conspiracy theorist part of me wants to say it’s all about getting transfer money.
Blizzard has continued it’s record of not addressing key issues and trying to avoid faction balance, this is all just going to be a repeat of retail unfortunately.
Honestly, I don’t think some of the alliance players understand why premades were banned in the 2nd test phase.
It’s because during the 1st test phase, horde went crazy making premades.
I was literally going stretches of just facing horde premades. Horde LFG chat on every major horde server was a stream of “LFM BG PREMADES” just constantly being spammed. More people making premades than making groups for dungeons.
It would be nice if they come up with a matching based solution (i.e. raids face raids), but there’s no sugarcoating that horde will make a ton of premades if premades are brought back.
The reason alliance face so few horde premades the past couple months especially is due to how long queues are. Nobody was spending time in raids grinding honor when it wasn’t worth anything (i.e. the epic 60 gear had been surpased by AQ40/Naxx gear, until BC hit). Even then, most people just won’t make premades with >20 min queues on horde side.
