How many action bar buttons are we talking here? Do you think you could comfortably hit 6 buttons during combat? 8? Do you have special keybinds for things like interrupts or stuns?
As Grizzle mentioned, Predator is amazing for questing and dungeoning, if those are your aims. I also think Soul of the Forest, Primal Wrath (for dungeons), and Bloodtalons make for near-identical button behavior on Single Target and AoE, except you switch action bars. Let me explain a bit more.
Let’s say your Action Bar 1 was “Single Target”. I’ll leave it up to you which keys get which buttons, but the core buttons for your rotation are going to be: Rake, Thrash, Shred, Tiger’s Fury, Rip, and Ferocious Bite. I’ll ignore things like interrupts (Skull Bash) or heals or anything else, and simply focus on the core DPS rotation.
Beginning in stealth, if you do [Rake, Thrash, Shred (until 5 CP), Tiger’s Fury, Rip], you’ve now put a perfectly buffed (Bloodtalons) 5 CP Rip on the target, and they also have Rake and Thrash’s bleed on them as well. Also, because you just used Tiger’s Fury, you probably have close to 100 Energy (minus the cost of Rip). If you’re solo questing, this means you’re probably a few Shreds and a Ferocious Bite away from the target being dead, at which point your Predator talent will reset TF’s CD and you’re ready to stealth and repeat.
Now, let’s take whatever layout you put for Action Bar 1 and put the same buttons on Action Bar 2 (your “AOE Bar”), but we’re going to swap two of them out. Instead of Shred, put Swipe, and instead of Rip, put Primal Wrath. For an AoE pull, you’re going to do the exact same thing as I mentioned above (!), except when you hit Primal Wrath, now every mob near you has a half-duration 5 CP Rip on them and Thrash, and whatever target you hit first has Rake on them. Now it is up to you if you want to hand out a few more Rakes, or if you just wanna hit Swipe a bunch of times and spend more CPs on Primal Wrath.
Now, a lot of this benefits heavily from some basic macros and mods. You can use a macro with /swapactionbar 1 2 to toggle between your Single Target and AOE bars, for example. And for monitoring your dots, I highly recommend learning either WeakAuras or TellMeWhen. It is really nice peace of mind to have something that warns you if your target is about to lose their Rake, Thrash, or Rip, so you can refresh it.
So yeah, that’s another way to do it. My goal here was to solve for “I can only reach 6 buttons reasonably in combat”, but still make you functional in ST and AoE. It is up to you if you make these buttons 1-4, Q and E, or 1-3 and Shift+1-3, etc. Good luck!
