Bum hand, need some Feral advice

I’m wanting to play a Feral Druid in Shadowlands, just for solo quest content and maybe LFR. I don’t have to have anywhere near top DPS for my purposes. It’s got high nostalgia for me, since it’s one of the classes and specs I played in Vanilla. Problem is, I have neurological damage to my hand, and a gaming mouse won’t help. Would someone who is very familiar with Feral be willing to break down the most bare bones, easy mode rotation/priority I could use in the content I mentioned? Also, are there any addons I could use to guide me?

Thanks!

I’d suggest taking the Predator talent (for questing/WQ) and Sabertooth for LFR, Soul of the Forest, and Moment of Clarity

Predator refreshes Tigers Fury (which grants 50 energy on use, and 15% increased damage for 15 seconds) any time a mob with a bleed (rip, rake, thrash) dies.

Soul of the Forest returns 5 energy per combo point used on a finishing move. So up to 25.

Moment of Clarity makes our omens proc 50% more often (makes shred, swipe, and Thrash cost no energy and do increased damage).

Rotation wise: if able to, enter every fight from stealth.

Stealth —> Rake —> Shred to 5 CP —> Rip/Ferocious Bite (Rip if the mob is going to live for awhile, Bite if not) —> reapply Rake if/when needed —> Shred to 5 CP —> Bite

AoE: Stealth —> Rake —> Thrash —> Swipe to 5 CP —> Rip on priority target —> Swipe to 5 CP —> Rip on a second target if they’ll live long enough, otherwise Bite. Refresh Thrash as needed (to keep bleeds on targets to benefit from Predator talent).

Use Tigers Fury when you’re low on energy to get 50 instantly and keep attacking.

MoC procs: Shred for single Target, Swipe/Thrash for AoE

About as simple as I can make it

Awesome, thanks!

How many action bar buttons are we talking here? Do you think you could comfortably hit 6 buttons during combat? 8? Do you have special keybinds for things like interrupts or stuns?

As Grizzle mentioned, Predator is amazing for questing and dungeoning, if those are your aims. I also think Soul of the Forest, Primal Wrath (for dungeons), and Bloodtalons make for near-identical button behavior on Single Target and AoE, except you switch action bars. Let me explain a bit more.

Let’s say your Action Bar 1 was “Single Target”. I’ll leave it up to you which keys get which buttons, but the core buttons for your rotation are going to be: Rake, Thrash, Shred, Tiger’s Fury, Rip, and Ferocious Bite. I’ll ignore things like interrupts (Skull Bash) or heals or anything else, and simply focus on the core DPS rotation.

Beginning in stealth, if you do [Rake, Thrash, Shred (until 5 CP), Tiger’s Fury, Rip], you’ve now put a perfectly buffed (Bloodtalons) 5 CP Rip on the target, and they also have Rake and Thrash’s bleed on them as well. Also, because you just used Tiger’s Fury, you probably have close to 100 Energy (minus the cost of Rip). If you’re solo questing, this means you’re probably a few Shreds and a Ferocious Bite away from the target being dead, at which point your Predator talent will reset TF’s CD and you’re ready to stealth and repeat.

Now, let’s take whatever layout you put for Action Bar 1 and put the same buttons on Action Bar 2 (your “AOE Bar”), but we’re going to swap two of them out. Instead of Shred, put Swipe, and instead of Rip, put Primal Wrath. For an AoE pull, you’re going to do the exact same thing as I mentioned above (!), except when you hit Primal Wrath, now every mob near you has a half-duration 5 CP Rip on them and Thrash, and whatever target you hit first has Rake on them. Now it is up to you if you want to hand out a few more Rakes, or if you just wanna hit Swipe a bunch of times and spend more CPs on Primal Wrath.

Now, a lot of this benefits heavily from some basic macros and mods. You can use a macro with /swapactionbar 1 2 to toggle between your Single Target and AOE bars, for example. And for monitoring your dots, I highly recommend learning either WeakAuras or TellMeWhen. It is really nice peace of mind to have something that warns you if your target is about to lose their Rake, Thrash, or Rip, so you can refresh it.

So yeah, that’s another way to do it. My goal here was to solve for “I can only reach 6 buttons reasonably in combat”, but still make you functional in ST and AoE. It is up to you if you make these buttons 1-4, Q and E, or 1-3 and Shift+1-3, etc. Good luck!

Just some binds I use. I do have a thumb button on mouse but everything else is my left hand. Q e x c f all with shift and alt modifiers. Alt shift q and e. Thumb button with alt and shift. 123 all with alt and shift as well. Plenty of binds there all with left hand. If you have larger hands you could go up to f1 f2 keys as well b g t. Hope this helped.

I have a bum hand too. (these macros are for Shadowlands)
I use the following.
Also - wow lazy macro (addon GSE) is a one button macro capable solution for disabilities.
Using this I’ve been able to play 1 handed or 1.5 handed for a few years now.
I do try to stick to DPS classes so I don’t have any responsibilities that would be affected by my inability to react quickly enough to save someone from harm.
But I’ve learned how to combine abilities specifically for Feral Druid, which can translate to any spec.

One button healing for Renewal users. When you get a proc, hit the macro, if you need a second heal, hit it again. If you don’t need another heal in 10 sec’s it will reset back to Regrowth ready for your next proc.

#showtooltip
/castsequence reset=combat/10 Regrowth, Renewal

One button, enter cat form, stealth, Rake

#showtooltip
/cast [stealth] Rake; [form:2] Prowl; Cat Form

One button Interrupt/Stun that resets with the cooldown of Skull Bash

#showtooltip
/castsequence reset=combat/15 Skull Bash, Mighty Bash

One button Barkskin / Survival Instincts - Use Barkskin on cooldown, if you need more damage reduction, hit it twice.

#showtooltip
/castsequence reset=combat/60 Barkskin, Survival Instincts

If you have access to moonkin form - this is a nice QOL Macro (change the stance:# to match where your moonkin form is on your bars.

#showtooltip Flap
/cast [stance:4] Flap; [nostance] Moonkin Form; [stance:1/2/3/5/6] Moonkin Form

Simple pop out of form - Cast Regrowth - and jump into Bear Form

#showtooltip
/castsequence [@player] reset=10 Regrowth, Bear Form

Using 2 action bars, one for ST and one for AOE is wonderful. Dedicate one button to switching back and forth.

/changeactionbar [actionbar:1]2;[actionbar:2]1

Hope this helps some of you.

You should use (or create) a USB foot pedal to activate a desired spell or action.

Never thought about that. Any recommendations?

Not sure, it’s just a crazy idea I’ve thought about for those that might need it.

Technically, you could knock all the buttons off of something except for one button and hit that with your toe. First, you would need to go into keybinds and press the button to hopefully see that the extra USB keyboard or game device is detected when pressing the desired button.

I was just looking and a 3 pedal is like $40. I’ve never tried it, but could awesome

Lol try again

“Unknown Macro Option : Stance 3”

I literally have 32 keybinds of which I mostly focus on 24. And I use some cheat macros to help out that I’m not allowed to post here. Without them I’d probably have carpal tunnel syndrome right now. I wish Blizzard would get rid of the requirement to have a heal over time in order to cast swiftmend. It’s an extra key press that’s completely unnecessary and easily bypassed with a simple macro. The only other macro I use is the typical “swifty” dps thing. On my rogue I also use a swifty macro for all my defenses if I want to run really far away in pvp.

It works for me, but it’s not needed. It actually shouldn’t even be in there.
Use this. And I’ll update my original post.

Couldn’t you make your thumb mouse button a modifier as well?

Not 100% sure but you would be able to get an additional round of binds if possible
