Nope, all Azerothians belong on azeroth! It is no longer 2007!
Honestly this article made me super optimistic for it! Keep up the hard work, will be cheering you on!
Cross posting from another forum.
I’m most interested in the private neighborhoods:
- Will that be only for a guild or several friends - or is there enough space for several guilds? What about if my guild is a mega-guild? Or a solo guild?
- Can I be the only one in a private neighborhood, or can I to bribe people to join but let me do all the planning/building if I want one all to myself? Because I absolutely would.
- Who is responsible for the formation of the neighborhood group? Will it be like the current in-game communities? Guilds? Something else?
- What are the permission levels here? Will there be set plot sites, or will we be responsible for deciding things like no one can build within x number of steps of another build?
- Can I set up a private neighborhood or two that I can specifically use to run RP - with areas for roll battles against mobs, disarming traps, and fun stuff like that?
- Can we designate a public neighborhood for RP? If not, will anyone really be using them? Because otherwise we’ll be getting troll builds where people try to build a uh…thing next to someone’s nice house.
- Can we mix and match decor? Suppose I want something from the Horde coded decor in my Alliance house. Is that cool?
- Terra forming? Yes? No? Can I plant trees all over the Durotar neighborhood?
- Seasons? Day/night cycles? Weather?
This looks like a good first step! A few questions/concerns, though:
Cross-faction play
If you’re in an Alliance guild but only have Horde characters, will you be locked out of having a house in your guild’s neighborhood? Do you have to have an alt of the same faction as your guild?
Are you limited to one house per account? One per guild? One per warband?
Can you at least have one Horde and one Alliance house?
Social changes
If you leave your guild/friend group, can you pick up your house and move elsewhere? Do you lose everything you’ve invested in your house and have to start over?
Neighborhoods in general
In the case of, say, a guild neighborhood, does the GM “own” the neighborhood?
If someone is kicked out of a guild, will their house automatically be removed from a guild neighborhood?
Who decides where houses can be placed in public neighborhoods? What about in private ones?
Can you fly in neighborhoods? The concept art seems to show multiple levels.
While this would be cool, the sheer logistics behind this would be staggering. Look at some of the EQ Landmark videos. The housing and building system, ended up basically being designed as a separate game.
And for WoW, to do what you are asking, would be for the most part require them to design a building game, using the WoW engine and potentially integrating the game into WoW.
I am in for it, but that just feels like a completely separate game.
i would prefer that the time and money spent on player housing development would first be spent towards properly balancing each spec and having every talent tree function properly.
How about we wait and make sure it’s working.
They said it’s being designed to “scale with player interest” which could mean a few things, among them that you get more in terms of house size, style options, interior decor, et cetera, relative to the amount of gold you invest.
And while they do say no high purchase costs, lotteries or onerous upkeep, it’s important to keep in mind what goes unsaid, being that up front costs may be minimal but beyond that could wax exorbitant.
Honestly no joke. This is EXACTLY what is going to happen. 99% of Blood Elf, Nightborne, and even Tauren players will opt for the Alliance option from the get go, if not even refusing to build at all, until better maps are implemented.
And yet I can’t say Hi to the opposing faction without being grouped with them. ![]()
If Carbine could do it, Blizzard can for damn sure do it too.
I agree 100%.
Imagine Nagrand or Grizzly Hills-like housing?
I am ESTATIC!!! I love this preview and teasers. I still live in my Garrison so I’m so pumped to see individual AND neighborhood options as well as decor. Excited to have it hubbed by the two main faction cities. There’s always haters but I’m a scream from the rooftop fan!!! Thank you for all your hard work and listening to many viewpoints and ideas to be curating this super cool, long lasting, social, home sweet home project!!!
New player protection feature, but yes, there are still challenges that I hold the game responsible to overcome in time!
I was really hoping for Black Desert style housing, but this is the next best thing. I can’t believe this is finally happening. ![]()
I remember when I took a two year break during Dragonflight, my Free Company had to wait months for a plot to open up AND get lucky on winning the lottery. It felt really bad when the plot of my friend’s dreams was not won by the FC.
Well i kinda like and dislike this at the same time.
I was hoping that the housing plots are limited, but zones are always being increased so sooner/later anyone gets a house.
The lottery system from FF 14 is not bad at all!
With neighborhoods i think its a good thing if i got it right?!
It should NOT be like the boring garisons where youre totally alone!
Thats also more like good old Daoc housing. You gets a neighborhood with other players!
That feels more alike and lively.
So the public neighborhoods are= i get a house and besides me are living random players or npcs?
More than 1 house would be too much. It can be alrdy a lot of work to customize 1 if its well made!
I rly hope there will be dwarfen zone or even later mixed zones i like. Like Feralas or so for Alliance players ![]()
My hopes are still there!
What if I don’t want to be a part of the community?
Evicted if you’re afk for a month is wild. ![]()
This sounds like an endless amount of possibilities. will be intrigued to follow this development.
