I noticed on the stress test that the following spell animations are bugged and I confirmed this on a 1.12.1 client.
Lightning Bolt and Wrath display little to no trail particle effects. Comparison: https://i.imgur.com/PtT19YL.png
Smite only shows the impact and sparkles, but little or no ribbon slash. Comparison: https://i.imgur.com/UprbFcc.png
Shadow Bolt is missing the bright purple glow directly behind the skull that really gives it that flashy feeling. Comparison: https://i.imgur.com/crvVnDF.png
Auto Shot arrows don’t display their ‘air trail’ until the projectiles are halfway through the air, when it should start as they are released from the bow. Didn’t get a chance to screenshot this one on the stress test.
Also, holy precast effects on hands like Smite or Holy Light have extremely low frame rates for their animations.
Please respond Blizzard. How can you say you strive for an authentic classic feel when the animations for the most iconic spells of multiple classes are completely broken? It’s concerning that this has somehow gone unnoticed since the Blizzcon demo, where all of these bugged animations also existed.
I reported some of these bugs that I noticed at the Blizzcon demo 10 months ago, and also in each other stress test, but they still haven’t been fixed yet. I understand that classic is quite the undertaking but these are some pretty glaring animation issues.
Please don’t let this fall back under the radar. This will seriously hamper the enjoyment of the play experience for priests, and shamans and druids especially…
Thanks a ton to Elara and Reportingbug for the detailed comparisons provided! We’ve identified the cause for this issue and are working on a fix that we hope to have in place prior to the WoW Classic global launch.
