Issue:
Inscription Contracts introduced with the Midnight expansion are intended to be Warbound and therefore apply account-wide. However, the contract buff currently only applies to the character that uses the item.
Description:
When an Inscription Contract for a Midnight faction is used, the reputation bonus from completing World Quests only applies to the character that consumed the contract. Other characters on the same account do not receive the contract buff or the bonus reputation from World Quests.
Since the contract tooltip states “The effect is shared across your Warband”, the expectation is that the buff should apply to all characters on the account once the contract is used.
Steps to Reproduce:
-
Log in on Character A.
-
Use an Inscription Contract for any Midnight faction.
-
Confirm the contract buff is active on Character A.
-
Log out and switch to Character B on the same account.
-
Complete a World Quest.
Expected Result:
Character B should also benefit from the contract and receive the bonus reputation from World Quests because the contract is labeled as Warbound.
Actual Result:
Character B does not have the contract buff and receives no bonus reputation from World Quests. Only the character that consumed the contract receives the benefit.
Additional Notes:
-
The contract item tooltip states “The effect is shared across your Warband”, suggesting the buff should apply account-wide.
-
The issue is consistent across multiple characters.
-
Re-logging and reloading the UI do not cause the buff to appear on other characters.
Impact:
Contracts are currently in a non-functional state for Warbands. The reputation buff does not propagate account-wide as intended, but the game also prevents players from using additional Contracts on other characters by returning a “Fizzled” error. As a result, players cannot access the reputation bonus on their alts at all, despite consuming a Contract.
If anyone has found a workaround or confirmation that Blizzard is already aware of this issue, please share.

Same here. I popped my first contract Monday before the reset on my scribe who was sub-90; my 90 main did not benefit. This week I popped it on my main and my scribe has gotten no benefit while leveling. I could see the issue of leveling being a barrier (maybe they only wanting us to grind xp not rep while leveling) but that doesn’t excuse/explain the bug in the other direction. And I’ll have my scribe at 90 this evening to further test, but I suspect it will still fail to benefit them.

Not only that, I find that the original character does not even get the benefit of the contract when completing world quests. I multibox, and in The War Within, I used all of one contract to massively advance my K’aresh Trust rep on or about week 5. When I bought and applied the contract on one character, I only say the “5d” (5 days) buff (and its effect) on that character of the five I was logged in on. However, when I logged out and back in each of them was getting credit. That doesn’t seem to apply here–I can log out and back in, log to a different squad, and only the original character is showing the buff. None of them seems to be receiving extra reputation with the faction I chose (Hara’ti in my case).

Can confirm this is still broken. Really hoping it’s fixed with Tuesday’s reset.

I’m guessing most people either aren’t using contracts or primarily play on a single character with a contract. However, as an alt enjoyer who believed contracts would be account wide this is very frustrating to me.
I’d like to add that consuming another contract on an alt does not apply the contract buff to that character, so there’s literally no way of getting any bonus renown via contracts on my main. I used it on my Inscriptionist who’s only 84 (was 81 originally). I splurged for the +15 and lost big this past week.

Annoying - as dailies are usually how I level up my stable of alts! Oh well - looks like an in game bug report daily ;P!
Not only is it not working account-wide, it’s not even providing rep on the toon that first consumed it. Do Better Blizzard.
One of my guildies just had the same issue with their Haranir contract.
As of todays maintenance (3/11) Partially fixed. Created contracts with alt yesterday. Used on main. Buff is STILL only on main. Today, they’re getting the 15 bonus rep on world quests. Alts STILL do not show buff. Alts do NOT get bonus rep on world quests for the contract. Additional contracts still cannot be used. I guess more IG bug reports inc

Further note .. You CAN use a contract on an an alt. It shows the buff, however no rep is gained from completing world quests
Seems like they’re still working on this (slowly) lol Right now, if an alt uses (another) contract, that alt will earn the bonus rep. Tested again this morning. One with the big contract active - got 15 rep per new WQ. One alt with the lesser rep active - got 10 rep per fresh WQ and one alt with no contract active - no bonus rep.

Still no fix for this? Either fix the bug or update the item tooltip please. These should be working like how they did in The War Within. Yet we are going on 3 weeks and still broken

“Big same”, as they say.
With so much decor rep-gated, a fix or at least some communication would be awesome.

This is really annoying. Lots of mats/gold to make/buy these, only for them not to work. Same happened at the beginning of WW best I remember. This needs to be fixed! Credit given for all WQ’s would be appropriate also.
