You’ve never played healer have you?
Um I feel like the lower mythic+ keys are way too punishing on tanks still trying to get gear. Like if you get a tank around 590 or something in those lower keys they are just super squish
Realistically, buffing tank survivability by a percentage isn’t going to do anything, except move the exact same problems they’re having now some number of key levels higher.
Fistweaver monk would blow his mind ![]()
No. I know they pepper in damage when everyone is topped up and there’s nothing to cleanse. That’s what I meant by ‘largely’. I don’t consider it to be as even of a split as the tank’s management of party and enemies.
They aren’t comparable in terms of the requisite situational awareness and knowledge.
Then you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about.
Doing 10’s at 590 is not much harder than doing high keys at max ilvl. You pretty much play it the same, except the stuff dies faster. Unless it’s early season and the whole group is 590-ish then it’s a tea slog.
All difficulty is relative. Aim small, miss small.
We gained Hero Talents, which for tanks, all involve extra defensives in one manner or another. We lost a little self healing, but we gained a defensive to make up for it.
I think they’re in a solid position as is.
I know I’m right, but I’d like to hear what you think is wrong in my reply. I sincerely hope your response isn’t just some superficial posturing about how much more demanding and important the healer role is. No response at all would be better than that.
The roles aren’t equal and I’m tired of pretending they are.
I can answer that, since I play both.
It depends on whether or not you play optimally and where your floor is. Like bad tanks are just watching their own CDs and planning pulls around those.
And bad healers are kinda just following the group and reacting to the health bars moving up and down.
Good tanks are tracking their groups CDs and adjusting the pace based around those and the groups overall skill level. They’re using their utility to complement the group at the correct time (like dropping an AMZ during shadow pulse or intervening Blightbone’s spew) once defendives are running low.
Good healers, though, are doing all that too, rolling out externals after groups send their defensives, ramping up when heals are needed and fitting in as much damage as possible when it’s not. Their focus is split between mechanics and raid frames,
Bad tanks can get carried by their groups as much as bad healers. I think a good tank can do more to carry a group than a good healer can, though.
There is no “peppering in damage” with a spec like discipline or fistweaver. Your damage is the lion’s share of your healing. I’m not saying they are more demanding but watching bars for direct heals and externals, doing your dps rotation, staying out of swirls, dispelling, and also doing mechanics like bombs on the last DB fight certainly requires situational awareness.
I agree, give tanks Twilight Devastation back.
Pretty much exactly what Kaercha said above. Good healers aren’t just staring down party unit frames. We’re splitting our attention between our party and the enemies.
I have to be paying attention to enemies to see what they’re casting, when they’re casting, who they’re casting it on. Paying attention to interrupts. Paying attention to the environment. Paying attention to boss timers so that my ramps are done correctly. Paying attention to brain dead dps not using defensives or standing in lava and trying to save them if possible.
That doesn’t even touch on nuances of different specs. On disc priest that vast majority of my healing is done by doing damage. So on top of all of that, I’m also paying attention to the mob pulls and doing my dps rotation. On resto druid I’m catweaving to provide cc, interrupts and extra damage to make pulls go by faster.
Like to say “healers don’t have to split their focus between enemies and party, I know I’m right and you should shut up” and you don’t even play healer is just laughable and I’d love to say more but my true feelings about you would get me banned.
i’ll do it for you. they are a completely brain dead bot incapable of critical thinking. they are carried through their plus 8 keys that they barely time. they are a terrible human being instigating outrage on a video game forum. they don’t deserve peace in life or during their death.
Don’t worry, next season will be even worse — tanks will now be doing 25% or less of the top DPS
Seriously? In the current season, even when I wait for the tank to pull, I sometimes end up stealing aggro.
That isn’t CHATGPT bro, it is riddled with grammatical errors and spelling mistakes.
wowsa…harsh
Tanks should do 25% or less damage than the healer.
Also have their health pools cut.
Damn, y’all didn’t have to murder the poor guy. ![]()
