Ehh, i just wonder if they would be consistent with their views. Kind of a thing that i wanted to know since myself is an egalitarian these days.
I don’t think that’s a bad thing to be serious, though i would agree it should be civil and not a total crap-fast.
I think their more misguided on their beliefs or don’t actually realize the things they say or do are what goes against or counter productive to what they are allied with.
You don’t fight fire with fire, because it’s just more fire. Or hatred in this case.
Not really surprising to see since i’ve come along, she have gone silent…
Calling anyone any derogatory name is demeaning whether the arrow strikes true or not. And it is twice as bad when it is a sexist term. (That goes for racist terms too.)
Okay? What’s your point? He’s just simply saying “i don’t care”.
You’re acting like him not caring means he 100% supports demeaning women. Which wasn’t what he was saying…
Also, i’ve noticed the lack of mention of women in your second sentence and it’s now genderless or not even naming specifics, when your previous comments have… weird…
Ok. I think you and I will have to agree to disagree. We could sit here and go back in forth all day and I doubt I will change your opinion and you are not going to change mine. I am sure there are few people here who would not mind taking up this argument with you. Some might even disagree with me. Enjoy the rest of your day or night.
As much as I think its tacky (and I always have, both for it being in WoW and the saying itself) its not always possible to completely weed out every iffy joke/statement/word usage/description etc across every platform in the world. Its just not something that can be done without turning everything into the language equivalent of beige.
I mean, I wouldn’t mind if they kept the achievement, just changed the title a bit. If they can take a certain word out of the Garrosh/Sylvanas quest over in Eastern because it offended some dev with a child playing, then they could certainly rework this a little.
You’d likely end up removing a couple dozen achievements if you start looking for titles that might insult someone. Not worth getting into.
That said, it really is strange that so many males in gaming can’t take the slightest amount of criticism or pushback. It really is sad looking at a few posts over the last two days.
The humor is in the crude congerie of the statement, “bros before hos”, and the laugh commonly attributed to Saint Nicholas, or Santa Clause, given the achievement’s relation to Christmas, here being the Feast of Winter Veil.
The former statement, as far as I can tell, is a base modern derivation of the notion, “blood is thicker than water”, its full original form being, to my knowledge, “the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb”, which is a statement on the strength of fellowship chosen compared to familial relation, thus generally applicable. The derivative - “bros before hos” - is then, to my mind, a declaration that the bonds of friendship ought to take precedence over the baser delights of the flesh, here represented as a synonym for prostitute, a thing which any can be regardless theyr sex.
It is therefore not upon the debasement of women founded but an old adage adapted to suit modern, less lavishly formal parlance. At least to me, whom thinketh not that the word “ho” can but to women referreth.
Give it a few years and that old south park episode about the kids holiday show will be reality.
the episode where to not offend anyone nothing holiday ish about it. It was modern art dance show that I recall. Devoid of any reference to, well, anything.
I think you’re reaching a bit if you’re offended by Bro’s Before Ho Ho Ho’s. The line has to be drawn somewhere. When will things stop being offensive? This is a very minor issue that draws attention away from real social problems.
how bout no, back in the days of when people were not a bunch of pansies if you got offended you got offended and moved on, you distanced yourself from the issue, rather than forcing someone to bend to you way of thinking, or you debated with the person who had different beliefs and views and in the end if no change happened people would agree to disagree. so get off your feminist high horse and deal with it like people use too walk away from it, now that being said yes what happened inside the company needs to be addressed, and all those involved need to be investigated and punishments need to be dealt with on a fact basis only. anyone with a hint of false accusations should receive harsher punishments for slander. that being said for those who are truely effected my heart goes out to you.
