Pretty much what I assume. I think it was just the events of Warcraft 2 minus needing to do it for the book of Medivh. That both decided to have a truce/decided to fight off Thundermaw. And instead of the book, the main reason to help them was for Kirin Tor forces to have the ability to study the arcane powers in the area.
