The joke was there are no battlegroups anymore, its across all servers. Its something I commonly see here.

Except, you’ll need to pve to get the higher item level gear to get more stats for your template.
That’s how templates worked.
Every spec got the same cookie cutter template and the only way to increase your power is to throw on the highest item level gear you had because for every x points above a baseline, your template had more stats. Nearly all that high item level gear came from pve sources, just like bfa.
Did people forget that? Guess so
I didn’t pve at all in Legion. Had a blast. Outside of doing Nazjatar world quests, I didn’t pve at all in BfA as well.
When the templates were in use, the difference between a top geared Player and a fresh 110 was minimal. fresh 110’s were able to actually contribute with heals or dps and not feel like a free HK. The system used in Legion was so much better than the revision of the older systems; far from perfect but WAY better.
As an aultoholic I found the ability to log onto what ever class/race/spec comp that I felt like and didn’t have to worry about having the BiS anything, allowed for more time to have fun. So long as I wasn’t raiding, doing world related content or dungeons, I didn’t have to spend too much time gearing. That meant more time for Battlegrounds and a lot more fun.
I find that hard to believe.
Legion templates was all about the item level of your gear. Legendaries were a min of 30 item levels better than mythic raid gear. Having 2 was mandatory to get stats.
I could see templates getting applied to the xpoff twinks if they wanted to queue into regular bgs/arenas. Their gear is completely ridiculous. But for everyone else, screw templates.
They were awful.
The guys that bust their butts to minmax their pvp builds and gear stats deserve to make a fresh 110 feel like a free hk. The effort deserves rewards.
This was done as you leveled.
templates made all of that min/maxing unnecessary. If working hard for your gear and mix/maxing was the sole aim for the revision then the xp separation should have never been a thing. It’s the Elitists trying to convince themselves that they aren’t or didn’t waste their time because, look at how fast they are putting those fresh or lazy 120’s in the graveyard…
If the people farming all of that gear, going through all of that content enjoyed themselves, GREAT! But it’s not right to force people who don’t want to partake and aren’t enjoying themselves to go down the same path as the min/maxer so they can start to have fun.
that was from legendaries by the rogue
i played one too, you could be really nasty in wpvp with them in legion. huge fan of knives guaranteed to crit, then vanish and switch to a different set after the opener
unlimited vanishes out in the world too along with some pretty OP body guards, it was crazy.
sounds like you didnt play legion, most of what you mentioned was really trivial tbh
complaining about the artifact quest? lmao
legendaries did take time at first, but you got them just for logging in and doing literally anything by the second patch
ilevel was very easy to get in legion, even for casual pvpers
Elwyn Forest has plenty of cows if 1-shotting defenseless creatures is what gets you off. Your ability and willingness to “no-life” the game shouldn’t give you an auto win in PVP. If you play that much and put that much effort into the game, you should be that much better at playing the game and should be successful without the ilvl crutches.
“I play a game that is literally about nothing but getting gear, and I’m upset that Im bad at it.”
This is one of the very few times I will probably ever out right agree with jugga, but you are absolutely wrong about all this.
I was full mythic Ant geared on this monk at the end of legion. I had 20% more stats vs a fresh 110 (not including that boa gear you could get from argus to get free 110 gear off the bat), that wasn’t all that much of a difference.
To give a comparison that was about the difference between a honor geared toon vs a conquest geared toon in MoP and WoD.
My horde monk only had 1 lego from first patch of legion and the boa argus gear. I was still wrecking kids almost as well as my uber geared monk. The only true difference I had felt was out in the world.
About ilvl the issue with pvp gear was the itemization was jacked and completely rng.
The only real issue was templates didn’t allow you to customize the stats themselves. Like for monk we were given way too much haste when ideally, we try to keep this relatively low
No. I was pointing out the bs in his argument and that’s very clearly stated too. Reading comprehension? lmao
The template system sucked.
Unless you were one of the blessed few,
Arguing for the bfa equivalent:
Maybe you become one of those lucky guys who gets a good template because the Blizz employee wasn’t a complete pvp idiot and you can feel good about the result. For my mage and hunter back in legion, the template never felt right. It worked ok for my mage, suboptimal, but ok. Unfortunately, it was awful for my hunter.
If you folks want to argue for an optional template system, check a box before queuing and all your gear and stats get set by the game to an average level, ask for that.
Personally, I would rather have a pvp vendor that allowed me to get exactly what I wanted. It would be awesome if the gear was boa instead of bop but frozen pigs are going fly in burning hell before Blizz allows that
yes it did work fine for me in legion, thats why i want it back
you do know they could tune the template to be anything they want right? they can adjust it
and you totally did complain about that stuff and now you want to deny it. it wasnt bad reading comprehension
I prefer this too, but if I had to rank it would be
WoD pvp gear system>MoP gear system (pre pvp power nerf resil base line)>wrath pvp gear>cata>templates>bc>bfa
I busted my butt to make my main relevant. I should be able to have fun on an alt
That’s why they need to bring back pvp vendors. Blues with honor, purples for conquest.
You can can blame Blizz for bfa’s alt-hostile design and I would agree with you about having max-level fun with alts without putting in main-effort all over again. I wish more things in this game were boa instead of bop or unlocked account-wide.
Regardless that fresh max-level alt, or fresh max-level main, that’s getting wrecked in today’s bg, a month or two from now is going to be a character that you’ve invested in and put thought into the gear, the stat mix and abilities, worked on the build and gained skill every bit equal to the gear, you deserve to go into the bg and do the wrecking.
A template will take away a huge chunk of what you have invested into your character by guaranteeing a suboptimal, generic template chosen by some Blizz dingbat. Instead of your character performing in the arena/bg just as it does in wpvp, it will be different and not in a good way.
Again, if you want to argue for an optional template system, that wouldn’t be all that bad. Same queue for everyone.
Eventually, the player should have control of his character in all forms of pvp, not just wpvp.
No…(10).
