Bring Flex Mythic Raid will help this game a lot

Believe it of not, if you enable Flex mythic raids, a lot of groups will be active and start pushing it. They may not care too much about other issues, such as class balance. People got something to play.

Now, many are just locked out of the end game content because of this 20 size-fixed mythic group. Lots of people simply have nothing to do for quite a long period of this patch.

Mythic + is too boring. RAID is the core and most attrative content of this game, BUT it can be accessed by quite a limited number of players. Open it to everyone!

20 fixed size brings a lot of work for the guild managers. A lot of communication is needed to keep current team stable, 24x7. This is why they say wow is a part time job, not a game.

Not a bad idea.

Guilds are going into hibernation mode everywhere. It’s been alt season for me but finding healers for m+ pugs is becoming harder and harder. This might bring some people back.

Yep my guild would love to check out Mythic but no can do because 20 people is still a lot of people to try and reliably field so we just dont get to play a chunk of the game or progress our characters.

More than 20 actually, to account for potential afks.

I look forward to 3 years from now and they finally change this as a big gift to players and it’s suddenly their idea when they should have already changed it.

I really like flex raiding, but unfortunately, I don’t think it’s possible/practical to do this for mythic.

Flex raiding is a wonderful addition to the game that makes it so, so much easier to get people into raiding. But there are always fights that are much easier or harder exclusively because of the number of people you bring. Instead of having X people targeted with an ability, you have Y people get targeted, which can make things harder. Or you don’t have that happen, and more people just means more uptime, making the fight much easier.

For fights as challenging as mythic is, balancing the encounters around different numbers of players just is not something I think can be done well. There will be an objectively correct number of people for each challenging fight, making the flex part really not all that relevant. Maybe it would be neat for the first couple bosses, where the fights aren’t that hard, but this wouldn’t work for the back half of a raid IMO.

20-player content is basically perfect for mythic IMO, and I would oppose this being changed.

I think this is more because heroic this tier was trivially easy. Heroic felt like normal to me, and normal felt like LFR. But mythic still feels pretty much like mythic–the increase in difficulty between heroic and mythic this tier is greater than usual.

That isn’t to say that your group couldn’t do it or anything–I’d say any AOTC guild can manage at least a couple mythic bosses, but you finished the raid much faster than usual because if the lack of heroic difficulty (and much faster gear pacing) so do keep that in mind. I expect they will correct that next tier.

I can’t really see them doing a true Mythic flex but maybe have set options for 10 and 20 player versions (the same way we used to have 10/25 raids). That’d give more flexibility for smaller guilds while still allowing them to keep it fine tuned for the specified raid size.

If mythic raids were tuning/balance incarnate we wouldn’t see bosses massively nerfed/changed every single tier.

“But mythic raid tuning is too important! Just look at how awesome they handle it! Look at mythic Zskarn!”

They could definitely do a 18-22 flex, set lockouts loot lockouts instead of raid ID, and enable cross realm from day 1.

Not every single tier–they didn’t do it this tier, for example. They are starting to nerf the raid now, as they always do, to make it possible for groups that are stuck somewhere to continue on through the raid–that’s not because the fights were too hard, it’s more because they want more groups to keep playing. I don’t think those are the nerfs you mean though tbh.

I’m not saying they nail the balance right away. Clearly, they often do not. But flex fights allow you to exploit the scaling at different player counts to make the fights a lot easier. This isn’t as big of a deal in more casual raids, and I think the benefits outweigh the negatives. I don’t think that’s the case in mythic, though.

There is a different level of effort and dedication needed to make it through mythic, and one part of that is wrangling 20 people so the scaling for every group that does the content is the same. People compete for Hall of Fame every tier (not even including the RWF), and it’s not fair for one raid experience to be easier just because they dropped to 10 players or something like that.

Making it the same for every group is important for mythic, IMO, so this wouldn’t be a positive change.

I don’t think they’ll ever do it… and if they do it will be to blow life back into a dying game.

If they bring it to mythic, instead of just min/max of characters, you’re gonna have to min/max your raid size.

I can see it now, some fights will be easier with x people, and some with y people. Gonna have a lot of pine riders just waiting to get pulled in for z boss.

Not making a change because there will be degenerate play by top guilds isn’t a good reason not to make a change.

No, they already spend entirely too much time on raid design. Having to balance the hardest content around a group of any size is a waste of time. Find 20 people.

i don’t think that’s necessarily an argument against the justification. it certainly does complicate the tuning process because now they have 5 mythic ‘encounters’ (as an example, if they’re allowing 18-22 flex) to tune against for each boss instead of just one.

The lack of either of these on a resume or any special knowledge for that matter has never stopped someone from having an opinion on these forums.

How is it they can do it for every other difficulty but not mythic?

because nobody cares if normal or heroic bosses are too easy

You’re open to your opinion. However it’s obvious you haven’t sunk 20 hours a week of not even playing the game into running a guild before.

“Just sit do this as a part time job!” Is all I hear when someone writes “just find 20 people”
