Over the past day or so more media from Midnight Alpha gameplay has been surfacing online, and I have to say that the new Remorseless Winter animation, while objectively nice, absolutely CANNOT replace the beautiful original Remorseless Winter animation. It’s everything. I main Frost DK to see that beautiful spell.
Blizz, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLLLEEEAAAASSE revert the new Remorseless Winter to it’s previous animation. At the very least, please provide us with a GLYPH to do the revert ourselves. I cannot stress enough how much this changes FDK aesthetically for me.

Im ngl this change looks more akin to a frost mage spell than a actual snow storm that it was visually shown to be from both cutscenes/the original animation. It really takes away from the theme that dk’s are based off of in favor of making it easier for players to see when it was never really that bad to see through in the first place.
Id say at the very least if you wanna change it up for people to see atleast make it to where its a bit more transparent wider version of the original, not something completely different from what a “remorseless winter” is supposed to be.
The new one is okay. It just needs a bit more intensity with the winter part.

I like the area of the new animation is easy to see, but the lack of effects is sad. I wasn’t expecting to be RW like Bolvar did, but I was expecting a bit more.
Oh well.

I’d also like to see a glyph to revert to the old graphic. The new one is too bright, too busy, and obscures other ground effects. It’s also mainly a bunch of FLAT elongated diamonds with defined sharp outlines, which doesn’t really fit into the rest of the game’s aesthetics.
The new animation is clearly half baked, it’s really really bad. The biggest eyesore is the large blue aoe sigil under your feet that is just a texture that follows your characters’ movements which just looks terrible. It really is just poor quality work and whoever is responsible for it should be ashamed. A new animation should be an all around improvement over the old, the new particle effects should have been dynamic and not static like previously, leaving trails behind. But instead we get “bluesnowflake.jpg”

I really don’t understand why they’d change one of the best looking abilities in the game….
I was wondering which ability was causing the mage like circle under my feet. It looks like a caster spell. It doesn’t belong on a non-caster at all and it’s nothing like a winter based spell. The new animation is terrible. It needs to be reverted.
While I don’t mind it too much, they could definitely clean it up and make it look more “Frost DK” like, for sure.

I like the ground frost glyph and effects, but the frosted winds are way too subdued.
Yea new animation looks much worse by comparison.
Bring back the old one please.
