Bring back archeology!

Bring back archeology!

We are underground, but no fossils?
We are with Nerubians, but there is no archeology to be found?

I won’t even bring up how disappointing it has been to not have it in DI either.

The issue was 99% of the archeological finds just turned out to be Earthen Turds.
:pensive:

They keep claiming they’ve added stuff to “scratch that itch” in the form of that abysmal weekly Archivists event (which turned out to be a joke making fun of archaeology) and they said Delves will have some elements to “scratch that itch” too. But they don’t.

I want real Archaeology back.

Not sure why removed items can’t be reintroduced through Arch.

Imagine an epic questline that ultimately leads you to digging up Atiesh.

It’s a good way to reintroduce unobtainable items, imo.

Not challenge mode stuff. But they reintroduced Zin’rokh that way. Plus they could add more archaeology themed outfits, mounts, pets, etc.

That’d be really neat. Like, true, lost artifacts.

I miss archeology. It was a pretty easy and fun thing to do while questing.

Fossils are not that far underground. They tend to be things that died on the surface and got covered up by a few hundred feet of layers at most over millions of years.

They missed a lot of chances with archaeology.

Shadowlands:
Could have had some neat things that were directly/indirectly related to the various covenants, the maw as well as the “first ones”

Dragonflight.

When you’re first getting ready to leave for the dragon isles, Toddy Whiskers is excited about all the knowledge to be discovered and Turalyon assures Wrathion that he has instructed the explorers league to work together with the reliquary

scale commander azurathel then notes that “the dragon isles are our home, not a place to be plundered”
this could have opened up the possibility of a sort of “aldors/scryers” setup where players could have chosen to protect the artifacst or join in on the smuggling/stealing or some kind of seedy, black market where you could trade artifacts for stuff

naturally, you’d have artifacts from the various flights as well as from the incarnates

The War Within
with us being underground, fossils/artifacts/lost treasures would be kind of a given
then you could have things relating to the arathi with hallowfall
earthen/titan stuff
TBA as more patches are released

We can’t have it back until we start spelling it right (I know, I know, “archaeology” looks weird to me too)

I finally got Zin’rokh while doing some cleanup during the prepatch.

I’m planning to level an alt 70-80 with archaeology, but it’s still fairly far down the todo list.

If they want to redesign the mini game, so be it.

I really like Archeology, I like the lore of the items, I like the rewards you can get. They really could make the UI of the manual be better too.

But they really should bring it back.

The “redesign” they tried in DF wasn’t the greatest thing in the world. It wasn’t bad, but there was nothing wrong with the original form.

Agree :100:%

They got away with it in Shadowlands with the excuse that there are no fossils/artifacts in the afterlife…but after continuing to completely ignore and abandon the profession in Dragonflight, we all can see it was just that: an excuse and nothing more.

Blizzard, it is very rude to outright lie to your customers like that! Redeem yourself by adding new Archaeology stuff to the game!

The Archivist stuff looked like it would be good at first, and some of it was. But the part with the totem and elemental, omg that was such poor design. WHY is the elemental clickable? And why does it block the things you need to click on? There’s no reason for it to even be targettable at all.

Half the event was always broken. And the storyline was a mockery of archaeology, as the entire thing was made up by a bunch of fakes who tried to come across as real archaeologists.

100% agreed. love digging for treasures, fossils. Still have to finish all th achievements.

Same! I’ve still got stuff to work on— which is great— but I’d like new stuff, too.
