I didn’t design Breath of Eons. It is not a DoT and does not behave as a DoT.
No need to be hyperbolic.

Didnt say you designed it.
its a curse of doom. which was labled as a dot. The damage is hidden till the end.
Yes there is.
But at the end. thats exactly what you are saying. That the spell is fine because it does nothing when used. The fact its a long cd just makes it worse. Even if you take everything else i say out of it, the spell is a curse of doom. If you put doom on someone and they died before it went off the curse was wasted and could/should have been used for something else. This is the same thing but a much longer cd.
Yes this can be worked around by coordinating it better, but you can literally say that about anything and everything and if we go that route, why bother reworking anything at all.
The only way to be a good augmentation evoker is to learn when to use your skills to properly align with your party’s burst. Learning when to use Breath of Eons is part of that. If you can’t figure out when to use BoE, then that shows you have very little understanding of how the spec works and how to contribute optimally to the group. End of story. There’s no reason to rework it.
And again, with that thought process, you can say that about literally any spell for any class in this game and therefore there is no reason to change or rework anything.
Everything is fine as is and everyone should just learn to play better to optimize their build/play despite any potential flaws, imagined or otherwise.
Blizz gives us a unique ability, and people are asking to change it to mimic other classes’ CDs
I like it as it is
I was thinking about how Breath of the Eon works and it will often have almost no value when pugging lower-end M+ dungeons. The simple solution is to not talent it. It doesn’t gatekeep any other talents. Using default Deep Breath does good dmg up front.
Another concern is that it could be OP in PvP. I assume that mastery will increase the duration of the Temporal Wounds. Do enough burst and TW could burst for 300k+.
I personally would prefer to have it work where it immediately copies damage, instead of waiting until TW expires.
when you have all the different talents for it it does work. Had someone in my raid tonight exclaim confusedly about it procing something close to 500k hit.
I use it more for cc than anything in pvp. its hard to tell how much its doing first cast and matches are lasting long enough for second cast and the target usually dies fore it pops on second cast.
Why not let Augvokers have both Breath of Eons and Deep Breath anyways? Prevokers are allowed to have both (talking about dreamflight here) and it would make the Black dragon fantasy part of the spec feel better
This was exactly what i expected it to be. When it switched i expected breath of eon to do damage. Less than deep breath but counts toward the temporal wound. So half the damage upfront half later.
Instead we got a curse of dome that requires everyone to do damage to the target or it literally does nothing. I can easily see the situation in a raid where you use it and then one of the RNG mechancics kills/force moves several people so they have to stop dps and only get half the uptime. Im waiting on logs from last night to comb through everything.
