I haven’t seen any bots recently.

Thats my guess.
I think they just dont want to have to compete for resources like the rest of us…and want top gold on the AH for their crap.
I think both. Just use this forum as a microcosm of how much they care.
I suspect my feelings about what should be done to botters would run afoul of the forum ToS … and possibly get me put on a no-fly list.
More than likely it’s just multiboxers, they banned a ton of bots in wow and I don’t think I’ve seen one in a very long time, I’m sure they moved over to classic. But I do remember they banned over 8k accounts for botting, I personally think they don’t do anything other than farm mats or mounts like the blood feaster which make it cheaper for the consumer anyway.
I mean I don’t mind if you get rid of them along with multiboxers but when the consumable and boe mount markets goes up don’t come back here to whine about how expensive they get, not saying all consumables are from multiboxers or bots but there is a high % of it since most people that do sell them in bulk are typically goblins like my self that sit at the ah most of the day.
Haven’t seen a bot since early in Legion tbh. Especially after the big bot maker was forced to shutdown after all the waves happened, and Blizz finally beat them in court.
I think someone was on to something about these constant threads when they said they think the ones complaining so much are the botters trying to get the rest of us shut down so they dont have competition, lol
If running in and out of instances is what makes a bot, then i guess i’ve been botting.
All that means is that anti-botting measures need to be active, e.g. blizz paying people to be logged in and proactively hunting them down, until it gets unprofitable to bot in WoW and they all move over to a different game.
It’s not impossible. The Chinese company running WoW in China did a massive crackdown that pushed all the Chinese Classic botters over to NA Classic. There’s no reason why Blizz can’t do it too.
Up until the ban wave a week or two ago they were crawling all over Classic and were incredibly brazen, with many using extremely obvious hacks (flying, etc). Earlier on in Classic there were also numerous bots in AV that were so stupid that they accepted any yes/no dialog that popped up (with intent of accepting battleground queue pops) and could be tricked into partying up, getting summoned next to a civilian, and having their honor rank chopped down by the partied player repeatedly killing the civilian.
Did you get tired at that sentence? Because the literal next sentence says “suspensions and account closures” and in the previous paragraph said “we’ve closed or suspended over 74,000 WoW accounts” but go off.
Did not know that. Of course I didn’t play classic long enough to see any of that. Only took a couple of days playing classic when it was in beta to make me remember that I didn’t miss that version of the game as much as I thought i did lol.
Tell that to RuneScape 3, they’ve been nuking bots and breaking them four times a month because they are extremely dependant on a stable economy.
If you have a genius way of stopping bots permanently I’d love to hear it.
Mostly so I can steal the idea, patent it, sell, and retire young.
Ngl. I keep seeing these threads pop up so I checked out Iron Docks, Skyreach, and The Botanica a few times this week.
Saw nothin “botty”. Just a few people hanging around.
There’s no way to stop bots entirely, but there are plenty of ways to create an environment that doesn’t allow them to flourish. It’s kind of like preserving foods; you don’t need so much salt/acidity/etc that no harmful bacteria grows, just enough that what little that does grow isn’t dangerous.
They farm non stop 24/7 and flood the economy with items and gold making things worthless. Bots don’t need a player behind them, or sleep or food or water.
What’s at iron docks?
I was seeing boxers for about a week on my server, here and there, but nothing worth bothering with. Theyve caused me no trouble at all. Certainly havent seen even one in Draenor where ive been farming for three solid days now.
lots of little mobs you can farm for a little gold from what I could see
youd have to box or bot to make them worth the time investment
Ah.
Wouldn’t it just be more simpler to run the bots through old raids.
Have a chance to get some rare battle pet, and much more gold then grinding old mobs.
