Bots and auto-reply scripts in trade chat

It’s CraftScan. I was clicking people’s names and doing a quick ctrl v message and even that wasn’t fast enough. Had to download it myself just to compete.

I do blacksmithing and jewelcrafting. I sometimes try to get work in trade chat. I have seen in the last few weeks that when I advertise my services I instantly get replies from bots telling me to send my order. Conversely when people ask in trade chat for crafting, even when I respond in 4-5 seconds I never hear back from them since I’m sure they have had the instant response from the bots, and normal humans like me don’t have a chance. All I want to do is make a little gold making people swords and axes so I can afford repairs, consumables, etc.

Seems to me like these bots are anti-game play, and should be banned.

from what i been told by people its weakauras or how ever its spelled that once a word is set it trickers it and they auto reply with what ever message they have set to say

Its out of control. There is a several bots just spamming 10+ lines of text over and over never logging out directing ppl to specific characters for crafts. Been reporting them for spam for weeks and yet there are still there 24/7 spamming away full screens of text.

Then you have the auto-reply bots/scripts/addons that instantly send a msg that normal ppl even with advanced typing skills cannot compete with. Very easy to test and repeatable, just go to trade and post the item link -LF Enchanted Guilded Crest PST pls! - and watch 10-20 msgs come in instantly.

I have experienced this as a customer, and it’s frustrating because they often don’t even respond lol. But anyway, I am just coming back from a break. I’m trudging through the campaign on a healer, because it’s a new class to me and IDK how to play the DPS specs. So this is miserable. I would gladly pay you a very handsome amount of gold for your time to help me knock some or all of this out.

AddOns that auto-whisper are also okay, just annoying. Liek the guild spam.

This can’t happen. You set your WO to rank 5, and they can’t craft it as rank 4. If a crafter is telling you to set it to rank 4 when they promise rank 5, then they are scamming you.

You set it as Rank 4 because the crafter is crafting it as Rank 4 with a percentage chance at a Rank 5 proc. This proc chance can be quite high but is not guaranteed. It sometimes requires them to recraft it a few times to get that Rank 5 proc, but that’s part of the deal and factored into the fee that they charge. But since they are relying on a proc, you can’t simply set the order to Rank 5. It’s been this way for multiple expansions now and I’ve never been scammed.

The AH undercut botting is probably a bigger issue.

They place a single crafting item far under price and then instantly buy all the stuff put up at the new low price.

This was the case in DF when inspiration existed.
In TWW, buyer can comfortably set to rank 5, since we have concentration now, not inspiration.

No. Inspiration was removed from the game, there is no need to play any game with procs. If you are putting in R4 you are getting R4 back 10 times out of 10. The crafter has to make the choice to use concentration to up the rank, and they are clearly not choosing that

That’s good to know that you can apparently have it set to R5 now.

However, I’m currently wearing 3 636 crafted items, crafted by 3 different people who were probably using automated bots based on how fast they responded. All were submitted as R4, yet were delivered as R5 based on our agreement.

So either I just got lucky (3 times in a row), or these “bots” aren’t as scammy as most of you seem to think they are.

This was the way it worked in DF, but there is no inspiration %chance proc for higher rank in TWW. Instead crafters have concentration that they can spend to make a craft one rank higher than they could if they have low quality mats or low skill.
