Bobby gone is good But

Monopoly is never really good. Microsoft should not become a 9 head hydra of gaming industry like Marvel and Disney in the entertainment industry.

So it’s fine to celebrate that Bobby will be gone soon but this acquisition is not that great too.

I dunno, I’m pretty happy with the acquisition.

C’est la vie.

I’m utterly indifferent to Sony’s fate but I don’t like Microsoft buying major chunks of the industry either.

I feel it was much healthier in the 90s, we used to have a lot more third party studios making games. (Acclaim, Williams, Ocean, etc.)

Third party may have disappeared but indie gaming has never been healthier. Lots of great games that have come out recently have been games from small teams or even just one or two people.

Disney turned an almost bankrupt Marvel into a billion dollar franchise. Microsoft has the cash and I think Microsoft Gaming is doing everything they can to make gaming assessable to a lot of people on multiple platforms. If they believe WoW is worth saving then they will put the resources into the game.

How many yachts is enough?

Well I’m going to build my yacht out of smaller yachts. So it’s going to take quite a few.

Microsoft isn’t in a monopoly position yet, you’re getting concerned over nothing.

There are still plenty of competitors out there to keep Microsoft in check as far as prices and practices are concerned. And let’s be real for a moment, Bobby Kotick wasn’t going to leave in any other way. He was resisting calls for him to leave and the board (which have members that are just as bad as Bobby) were supporting him 100%

This way, Blizzard gets an owner that respects gaming and Bobby Kotick and the entire Activision Blizzard board will get the boot. There is nothing but good things to come from this.

A big part of that is steam and creating environment for indie companies. I remember reading something like 50% of all games ever came out within last 5 years or something because of indie explosion.

Microsoft isn’t even the biggest gaming company, they have some ways before becoming a monopoly anyways.

I can’t believe I’m agreeing with you on something :flushed:

I am going to build my yacht out of sadness, since this is the resource we have the most of.

Tencent and Sony both make more money from gaming than Microsoft does.

Plus what about Nintendo?

Microsoft buying Blizzard is far from a monopoly. Plus you never know… Microsoft could clean it up, bathe it, give it a shower, shine it up… and sell it to Tencent.

Imagine Tencent running WoW.

Salt water is the resource for yachts.

Amazon has the money to put forth (lots of bugs in new world, still, and a horrible engine). I also don’t see Sony or Nintendo going anywhere.

Well Blizzard can’t be it’s own. The company won’t last to afford anything. I think it’s good that Microsoft bought blizzard and not any other company. Look at what they did to Bethesda, I have a feeling things will turn around.

Any aquisition is better at this point than Acti-Blizz going down like a sinking ship. Without this buyout you can say goodbye to your games because California’s lawsuit is bleeding them dry.
I only wish Bobby was getting booted sooner. His conduct is probably the most shameful - he was confirmed on Epstein’s flight logs, and we are now aware of all the misconduct that happened under his watch. He’s a terrible, terrible creature.

hardly a monopoly - even after this, they are only the 3rd largest gaming company.
