BMAH: Issues and Community/Devs Response

It’s not, i provided an example otherwise people won’t get the issue with this kind of service.

Many many years ago i provided a similar service on my home server but only cross faction, i was capped on both sides so people wanting some gold on the other side for a new alt or whatever would give me X amount + my 10% fee and then i’d log over and give it to them. Warden actually auto banned me for it once because it detected me giving people large amounts of gold but i spoke to a GM about it on the phone and they reversed it straight away, he even complimented my business model as he had never seen someone offering this service before lol

Of course this was many years before all of the token and cross server nonsense we have now.

I think now it kills the fantasy of an actual AH, your service could be see also as a way to bring a new way to the economy of the world, however with token, these kind of cross server things there’s not a fantasy about a bid war between players like before.

The playerbase usually doesn’t use the bid option on the AH, they just bought from it and now the BMAH face the same situation on which some items just gold cap and don’t allow players to interact on it. besides the service impact, Blizzard should include items more regularly and check which items are not being buy it at all. I saw some items that are still in game and really easy to obtain. The BMAH should function as a way to get removed and low drop items.

Does any of this surprise you? And Blizz has very little incentive to do anything about it since it probably involves people purchasing lots of tokens.

Technically you can guild transfer a guild that has gold cap in it so that already exists, just blizz charges extra and makes more that way for that service

In SL they changed bmah to require max level to access, which made it a lot harder for people to make trial characters to win items- but that change also had a direct impact in boosting character server transfer sales

I don’t really know what they could do other than make it so you can’t bid on an item if you’ve been on the server less than 24 hours or something

I’m not opposed to that whatsoever.

I’m quickly approaching the 2 year mark on my server waiting for the plagued protodrake. Like, why? lol

I saw one last year on runetotem, it went for 8.6m didn’t even gold cap :scream: havent seen it since though
Have seen multiple hulons though

Thanks to CC Member Pantheaeu to bring this topic, since BMAH has some issues, it could have some upgrades as gold sink mechanic.

What I hate about the BMAH is that it doesn’t really work in a game with a gold cap.

You can’t say something is an auction then let the first person who bids max gold win it automatically. If someone wants to pay more, they should be able to outbid.

Maybe just get rid of the gold cap? What purpose does it serve?
