BM Nerfs and Hero Talents

Am I correct in thinking BM got nerfed so jard because of hero talents? The main talent for one of the hero specs, the one that isn’t dark ranger, makes every other Kill Command do 100% more dmg.

If I recall correctly, the big adjustment to BM (that other nerfs kinda dogpiled on) was a Lacerate fix.

It still looks okay in raids, but its AoE throughput definitely suffered from what I’ve been made to understand.

It was a combination of Lacerate and Basilisk Collar. They both scaled up pet’s damage. However, Blizzard just gave an all over nerf to remedy the issue.

No, they got nerfed because of the talent Basilisk Collar which increases pet damage by 10% per DoT which means a 50% increase once you have all of your DoTs rolling.

Instead of just nerfing Basilisk Collar into the ground to get BM’s ST in line with everyone else, they decided to nerf EVERY other ability which means they also nerfed BM’s AoE which wasn’t an issue.

Bm got nerfed because it was super overtuned.

Basically you will use BM for ST fights and MM for fights with 3 or more adds.

Bottom line is the hero talents give us nothing but damage. No new stuff nothing to play with just damage.

But to give us that much damage in our hero tree they had to pull the damage from the spec tree or we would be over powered.

So in the end we got nothing from our hero tree that wasnt pull from our spec tree.

Yeah, that tracks.

It was only overtuned in ST not AoE. They should have just nerfed Basilisk Collar into the ground instead of EVERY other ability which now means BM AoE is bad.

If you think I’m exaggerating about AoE, go watch Max’s video where he talks with Azor about Hunters.

Here’s Tarlo’s take on it from Wowhead.
“Our tuning currently looks solid on single-target, AoE a bit less so. We’re most likely good at the pure single-target encounters in raid, but we scale poorly into AoE. Part of the issue is that Basilisk Collar adds so much value on single target (as you have ~5 dots on average up on single-target), while you realistically only see about 2 DoTs per target on AoE. This means that our AoE will naturally be an additional ~30% behind, compared to previously. If our single-target is in-line with other specs, this always translates to our AoE being “bad”. The solution here would be to nerf Basilisk Collar and buff alternative options which scale better into AoE.”

You’ll play SV over MM

I mean aoe was pretty strong too. Most mythic fights I wasn’t even talenting out of one minute build.

BM is traditionally always had mediocre aoe because it’s primarily a ST spec.

That’s why good hunters will play MM when heavy aoe is a priority.

Depends on the guild tbh. My RL had enough melee as it is.

Aoe was good, but they nerfed the wrong thing, blizz should have nerfed basilisk collar to tone down st, but instead they nerfed almost every ability bm had which transfers over to a big loss in aoe damage.

I’m not disagreeing the nerfs targeted the wrong things.

With basilisk collar we now have the same issues affliction has had for multiple expansions.

BM got nerfed because BM always gets nerfed. It’s somewhere in Blizz’s TOS.
