And here is a pet peeve of mine. The assumption that ‘when everyone gets gear’.
My current main is 438 in gear, since I only do open world and do not pug. While I am sure I am in the minority, likely I am not alone in not having the ‘gear’ because I don’t LFR, don’t pug and so deal with open world drops.
The assumption that ‘everyone’ has the huge amount of gear has always annoyed me. There are sections of the game designed for players like you (not an insult, just saying those who do the so-called ‘end game’ stuff) and that no one else exists.
And so there are sections of the open world that are simply not fun and force me to play tanks just to do them for quests and some of my toons simply cannot do them at all.
I am pretty sure if in time I can level up the current dream gear (and get it) my toon will be better ilevel but in no way would be able to take on the stupid in ZC.
I got one toon to max rep with them and frankly, don’t care that they have pets and mounts I have yet to collect.
And I am not asking for better gear. I’m asking for a game that is playable with the gear we’re allowed to get.
Overall, it’s not bothered me much but it does bother me when folks just thoughtlessly say ‘oh it’s soloable’ when it is not. It might be for you but given how many people think ZC is overpowered I’m guessing they still aren’t.
I played ZC since the week it was out. I have never seen anyone go for the rares there. And I wanted to take them down, had my tanks flying around hoping to find other players there. Only thing I was ever able to do was the Researchers when it didn’t phase out of existence when I was there or in mid-game there.
Forcing people to work together mostly fails in this game. Forcing people to work together to get what are basically transmog sets especially fails.
Working together takes play time to set up and execute. Why should large groups of people get together and go there to play rather than somewhere that they can get better gear / pets / mounts / toys e.g. rewards?
Also, the “entire objective” is not for players to work together, it is for players to have fun. Sitting on your hands while trying to build a group to do what is already archaic content is not fun.
100% agree with this. I really dislike the fart moles as it is and I will not go out of my way to do anything there. I tried to do some rare solo work but it was just not worth it.
They don’t need to be folded like a cheap blanket in the wind but we should absolutely be able to solo them with a little work.
Aaaand no blue comments on how PvP brawls on the calendar are being skipped over due to UI limitations during the anniversary and what’s being done to address it (because nothing’s being done to address it)?
None of them need to be killed to quest through the main story of the zone, which is the main reason that a new player would be there, so nothing really changes for the new player. They will quest out and leave. It would be a waste of their time to do otherwise.
Any changes at this point are more about allowing people to revisit the zone and knock things off of their personal “to do” list… so it’s okay to reduce power and let people that have world gear solo (or at least 2-man) them. As they are now, the gear requirements are FAR beyond what most players have to do that effectively… and class/spec combos are always an issue.
