It’s coming yeah? Like, we’re expecting it right? Yeah?
it’s called World of Warcraft: Midnight.
I suspect we’ll see a facelift with San’layn, but I wouldn’t hold your breath on a Blood rework. We’ll likely see a plethora of bandaids and number tunings, but not on theme/gameplay/rotation/etc.
Devs have done an incredible job with Frost to the point that now I love it, I use to not like it, specially the VFX that look like I was sprinkling white confetti! ![]()
Coming from playing similar classes from other MMO’s with their fun gameplay and awesome looking abilities… I was kinda expecting more from WoW’s “Death Knight”.
I’m sure or at least hope that by the end of Midnight or in The Last Titan DK have been revise at least… hopefully looking and playing as fun a Frost is now!
I don’t want to keep enving and salivating at Diablo’s Blood Knight and Necromancers forever! Omg they look so cool and fun to play, but I want my WoW versions of it in DK!
I know Blood and Unholy can look and play as cool or better than does 2 specialization Classes in the Diablo Series!
I think also they should take a look at the Rune Forge again too.
With the Lore Expanded in Shadowlands with Rune Carving Legendaries, Flesh Crafting and other cool Covenant Abilities or Soul Bindings passives, maybe they could add some of does to the Rune Forge… obviously you can only have one passive effect or it be limited somehow to your weapon but it be nice if DK could still access the powers of the SL through their Forge IMO.
Frost really does feel good now. Needs a few tweaks here and there but it feels so much better.
Unholy though… Unholy’s feeling worse.
Speak for yourself, Unholy feels the best it’s felt all expansion.
I am speaking for myself.
Unholy does not feel as good. Legion of Souls should not be an Army replacement.
Dark Transformation being replaced by Apocalypse is nice though.
Desecrate is also nice. But like I want some way to spread wounds for AoE.
And Festering Scythe isn’t good at that as you need to actually get AoE Wounds to make it tick fast enough to actually begin Applying AoE Wounds.
The clean up of the tree isn’t bad but playing feels more jank.
Like the changes we got were only one half of the solution.
I mean, they havent. Its still way to overly reliant on Obliterate. Making it so you have to push other buttons instead of wanting to push other buttons is a problem.
Death Knight should at this point be rebuilt while keeping the core tenets of the specs in tact.
Imo make blood shield a 50% or 70% dmg taken shield, raise the shield cap significantly and make grip intterupt too make it atleast seem like a “raid buff” (still such an incredibly idiotic thing too say).
Or i guess just give us some of the dmg taken over time going into more then 1 deathstrike back probably not all since df bdk gaming was a bit degen.
I’m really have not notice that… I play casually DK never had gotten into the Meta that much so when I did I was surprise with the new gameplay and visual changes when playing the spec, while catching up and gearing him up with my other Alts.
I use Frost with Deathbringer and the gameplay feels fun IMO… maybe as I get more experience I’ll notice those thing mention. Then again every time I am getting really good with a Class Blizz update and change stuff around lol! ![]()
I honestly been having a blast with Frost to my surprise because I use to not like the gameplay and specially their VFX in the past. (I love when MMO’s give flashy visuals to their Classes even if no one can see them since most use the option to turn them down specially when raiding. FF14 checking this option is a must or you will go blind! Love the flashiness of the abilities of their Profession especially with my Reaper or Dark Knight, but in Raiding it’s a blinding clutter!
)
Obliterate currently is doing almost double the damage of the next damage source for Frost.
Obliterate %wise looks like its not really doing much more but it is. Looking at a log right now and Obliterate is doing almost 100% more damage than Exterminate, while before it was around 50% more with BoS builds. BoS is even less strong now. Prior to the 11.2 patch Obliterate was doing about double the damage of Obliterate, after 11.2 its 3x its damage. Things in terms of damage makeup have gotten worse and pushed more towards Obliterate.
Just because you have to press Frost Strike now to generate Rime, doesnt mean that you want to press Frost Strike or Howling Blast when Obliterate is just a much higher priority in terms of damage contribution. There is just a much higher emphasis and want to press Obliterate now just because the damage that Obliterate will do. Its 3.3x more damage than either Frost Strike or Howling Blast and you have to push those buttons to actually work the spec properly, but why when you get enough KM procs without doing all that?
Frost either needs a rebalance of its abilities, or wipe it and redo it. Prior expansions had Howling blast, Frost Strike and Obliterate doing about the same damage figures. Like on Ultraxion in Cata. They all were around 84k damage. The damage between each of these was 24% for Howling Blast 29% for Frost Strike and 18% for Obliterate. Thats not bad at all. The damage figures were 2m overall damage for Howling Blast, 2.4m overall damage for Frost Strike and 1.6m for Obliterate. Thats not bad.
Just compare the damage now of overall damage and and singular hits for Frost. Its a joke. Obliterate is just still too strong. It holds too much power of the spec.
Then you look at ret and its a whole different story. The % breakdown, the overall damage contribution is just much better.
DK needs to find its direction than just throwing things at the wall that these forums say they want. That goes for Blood, frost and unholy.
Blood might very well need to get away from the reactive mitigation and go proactive. They have the means to do it, it just wont be as much of a self healer anymore.
blood seems pretty good atm, if i could ask for anything it would be to change gorefiend’s grasp to a passive that makes deathgrip pull multiple targets. no added penalty for time or charges.
Gorefiends is better how it is. It actually has versatility. You can grip things to an enemy, you can grip things to yourself, you can grip things to another tank.
Making it so GD just pulls multiple targets is just a straight up nerf.
the cooldown basically kills it as a spell. blood should have gorefiends grasp up every trash pull. if merging it with deathgrip is too much, at least drop the CD down to 30 seconds and give it 2 charges, also uncap the number of targets pulled, it should pull everything currently engaged in combat.
So instead of saying lower the CD, you want it removed and have DG pull a few more enemies… yeah… logical.
I would love a gorefiend’s grasp that grips everything you’re in combat with, right up until the inevitable moment it bugs out and grips the entire dungeon.
That’s not a particularly high bar, to be fair.
It’s not, but it still feels pretty great.
Honestly main change I’d make is ditching Raise Abomination in favor of Army, seeing as abom is slow and often buggy.
Unlimited range Gorefiend’s Grasp grips entire zone? That’d be funny as hell.
Especially nuking old zones.
There won’t be a bdk rework since there is no bdk dev out there. We have seen 0 changes to a spec tree during the whole TWW, which is insane considering that there are at least 30% dead talents in the spec tree. There were few changes in Dragonflight, but it wasn’t near enough.
This spec will never be good in m+ and will always be alright in raid where the grip is required or if the current tuning gives blood some nice single target dps. There is no communication with devs , feedback is being ignored for years and there is 99% chance that the dev responsible for spec doesn’t even exist(hopefully, he doesn’t , because if he does, he is a total amateur and have never played this spec).
