Blood elves need to be a high priority coming midnight

Ah yes, I am benefiting so much of the existence of Void Elves on my Human Mage and my Human Paladin. Truly, I am so grateful for the existence of a race that I only race changed my mage briefly to, didn’t like because of the male blood elf animations being dog tier awful and changed back to human.
What kind of argument even is that? What even is benefiting me as an Alliance Player? Their racials aren’t broken and I personally don’t like their models, animations or story.

They are compromise that Blood Elves players ended up hating because it’s too similar to their themes and Alliance hates because they aren’t High Elves in theme.

The only thing that even came close to “benefiting” the Alliance was the handful of players that played Horde just because of Blood Elves and now they could play the same model on their favored faction if they wanted.

We all know you’re just an elf under that dragon disguise

No they don’t.

Blizzard did the same for Blood Elves…

No they don’t.

Blood Elves got just as much as Void Elves and still have more class availability.

This truly is a Zumakind thread.

Yes I am aware. I can read. I’m just wondering why that needs to be a choice. I don’t understand why players who want to play as a High Elf must be forced to choose between Horde or Void. Choosing something because you have no better options isn’t the same as enthusiastically choosing something because that’s what you want to play. That’s why I made the distinction I did.

Make it a barber shop option then for all I care. Or an NPC toggle. The exact mechanism doesn’t actually matter.

Okay so Naughtymoon is coming at this from the Blood Elf angle and you’re coming at this from the Void Elf angle so help me understand… why does someone else playing an Alliance High Elf (through a selection of Void Elf customizations) dilute your Voidy Void Elf? Reminder that Void Elves ARE High Elves just like Blood Elves ARE High Elves and that there’s already multiple Alliance-side High Elves who aren’t corrupted by the void. Vareesa being the most obvious example but she still has the entire Silver Covenant ranger corps serving under her.

Alliance High Elves who aren’t corrupted by the void exist. Why aren’t they playable?

Are we really gonna do this I mean Void Elves were added for Alliance people to get the Blood Elf/High Elf model and then they got most of our customizations to play pretend on Alliance.

Alliance players have gotten bonuses just for playing that faction, Horde doesn’t.

Alliance players got crossfaction play mainly to benefit them because no one was playing that side.

I mean honestly most every thing is done to benefit Alliance and Alliance players and this would be another way to benefit them because they don’t want to play the proper faction to play the race because it doesn’t have a blue background.

What? I’m going to need an example of this.

Last xpac most of the xpac you got extreme rep, gold, etc. bonuses just for being an Alliance player vs a Horde player, massively.

I don’t remember such a bonus and I feel like I would have. What on earth are you talking about?

In warmode, hello this isn’t that deep.

I mean it looks like there’ll be a neutral Silvermoon, and the Void Elves will rejoin with the other “elven tribes” despite their exile being a major part of their story.

We need Midnight to be the expansion were WE DONT KILL TROLLS.

Seriously, no troll raid. We need playable Forest Trolls.

We had many expacs centered around elves.

Because it makes the void of the void elves just a part of their identity.
From that point on, they would forever and always be two races in one.
We already see today people saying that void elves got loads of stuff given to them as so shouldnt get any new void stuff.
But is natural skin tones really a void customisation? Doesn’t feel like it. They even called it high elf rp customisation.
The void elves are already suffering the effects of high elf fans who refuse to play blood elves.
I dont support destroying the race further.

Fortunately they have now introduced void elf npcs with normal skin and hair, kinda like alleria, which is hopefully a step to kick the high elf aspects to the curb.

nah! Visage is just an illusion, I’m really just a reptile. The day I can have a different Visage I will change for Gnome

Factions do barely matter. Want a High Elf, go play on the Horde. Want a High Elf with Void, play on the alliance.

Literally on my knees begging Daddy Ion to allow me to be a Dracthyr with a gnome visage. I’ll race change every single gnome I have to Dracthyr.

blood elves need stuff, agreed. the males particularly, have very few customizations and the females have a bunch of outdated hairstyles. now elves typically have ancient hairstyles but bliood elves have circa 1990 hair, which is awesome but not ancient. they need a refresh like human females got

Say what you mean the first time and you won’t be in this awkward situation where you have to explain yourself in the future.

First off, not everyone uses War Mode. In fact, most don’t. On both factions. Blizzard is not sitting here deciding that they want to reward Alliance players using War Mode. It exists purely to encourage more players to turn on War Mode for the side that’s outnumbered. It’s not an “Alliance bonus.”

I don’t think we should be making sweeping gameplay or narrative decisions based on which faction benefited from War Mode more. The Horde was already compensated for their smaller War Mode bonuses by being the more numerous faction and thus having the advantage in world PvP… that’s the entire reason Alliance’s War Mode bonus exists in the first place.

I mean, it kind of is. See my earlier point about Void Elves being a mishandled monkey’s paw. Void Elf history and Blood Elf history were identical until the end of BFA. Again, Void Elves ARE High Elves. Period. They are a subset of High Elves but at no point did they stop being High Elves.

How? Someone else playing their Void Elf as a High Elf doesn’t stop you from playing your Void Elf as a Void Elf. An option existing doesn’t mean you have to pick it.

I’m confused how that would do that but I’m not going to be disappointed about greater variety in NPCs.

I don’t think we should be making sweeping gameplay decisions to benefit Alliance players only but that’s what it’s been time after time lately, thankfully in this case Ion still stands strongly about factions and races on specific factions and he’s who is key so you and others like you aren’t going to get your way for a change.

You literally just listed Blizzard’s attempts of rebalancing the faction after they left the Horde Racials being so strong for so long, and eventually even going as far as desigining a mythic fight that made Goblin pretty much a must for any class with low mobility, like Priests and DKs in Legion that it created a snowball effect that more and more high end guilds went Horde, the more they went, the more the lower end sheep followed, eventually it became so bad that Alliance would take a whole month, sometimes more, to clear the Hall of Fame Mythic and then you would have Hordies crying in the forums that they couldn’t pug Mythic raids.

The stuff you have seen with Warmode and crossfaction stuff was made because with the Alliance being practically unplayable for endgame content it indirectly made the game worse for the Horde and since they couldn’t just make the Alliance racials busted otherwise it would just create another snowball effect. And look, I get it, you have been conditioned by Blizzard to be as tribalistic as you could possibly be, it’s a common phenomenon observed here in the forums, but try seeing things objectively this time, the things you listed as “Alliance Benefits” were made as necessities to make the game healthier, after all, would you have enjoyed if the Horde suddenly died and your best bet of having more than 10 M+ groups at a time or go into serious raiding was to go to your oh, so hated blue faction? Because from what I’ve seen here, you would be crying non-stop in the forums.

I think you’ve overestimated how much skin I have in this game. I’m not expecting a random forum thread to result in much of anything, much less changes to the race roster. And I won’t be too disappointed if nothing changes. I’m not one of those people who desperately needs to play an Alliance High Elf. I just don’t understand the friction against them.

I respect Ion and I respect his direction for the game. That’s not going to stop me from voicing my opinion on the matter on the forums even when it differs. Personally, I think you’re far too invested in keeping score between the factions in something that isn’t a competition.
