Aethas is pathetic and most of the blood elf community hates him due to his incompetence. I don’t know why Blizzard keeps digging him up.

I think Blizzard only brings up Aethas as an insult to Blood Elf fans.
He goes to Argus… but for what? What purpose does he serve? A world quest about his stolen muffin….
When the Trading Post comes to town, he wants to get Jaina a gift, of all people.
And his appearance in the War Within… a world quest where he treats plushies as solemn artifacts.
It seems his appearances are only to rub salt in the wounds of Blood Elf fans.

Of our cast he is by far the worst leader. Even Tae’thelan and Astalor are better and they barley get a similar screentime.

Tae’thelan is the leader of the Reliquary which is the Horde version of the Explorer’s league. He got a cool new look in hearthstone latley and I hope they copy it over to WOW.
Astalor is a high ranking Magister who created the Blood Knights by stealing magic from a Naaru. They are both rather important.

Personally I’ve always liked Aethas because I headcanoned him as autistic. He basically got his position by being the best scholar left after everyone above him was killed off. He loves living and working in Dalaran because he’s just a magical researcher but he has no idea how to lead people or navigate conflict. Every time he gets involved in the story he’s completely out of his depth and just wants to study magic.

Best Blood elf characters in my opinion.

- Lord Sanguinar
- Rommath
- Pathaleon
- Lady Liadrin
- And Valeera.
This is the biggest point that gets memory-holed. Belves wanted to stay alliance, but the new alliance tried to get them all extinct.
Kael goes crazy/becomes evil only off screen, and the belf player only finds out about this at the end of burning crusade. Many belf players critique this because it was not set up and was considered a bit of a nonsensical direction for the story just to villain bat kael, illidan, and vashj.

You’re mocking me with Godwin’s Law, but do you not see how you put this on yourself? Does none of this seem familiar to you? At the trial are you gonna say you were “just following orders”? XD
Also, 90% of the blood elf race was wiped out. In Warcraft 3 it was implied that the majority of the blood elf survivors were helping Kael’thas. Later games may have retconned this (again probably to downplay Garithos) but however you slice it he is trying to exterminate a huge portion of the remaining blood elves.
And you’d go along with it.
We better both be happy nothing like this will happen irl, because if it did, I’d be joining the rebellion against Garithos, and I’d put you in the same category as him.
