Blood - solo game play - pug friendly
War - if you have healer friend - not pug friendly but can carry pugs if you are good.
Paladin should not be having that problem in current content. They may struggle later, but only in very prolonged fights should a paladin start to struggle.
Paladin does seem to do better in caster groups, however. Or at least that has been my experience.
It’s not good. I got mine 581 and warrior feels miles better. I made my prot war my main tank.
Blood feels bad to me. It’s like the Arms warrior of tanks. It has it’s own merits, it’s not bad. But I personally prefer warrior. The main gimmick with Blood DK is mistakes can be mitigated better.
Meh… yes and no. It’s more a noob proof ability to be honest.
The thing that gets me in trouble as Prot Warrior is I keep forgetting the range of pummel, being so used to Mind Freeze lately (and DH interrupt while leveling it the last week). I think I am close enough to interrupt but nope I was just a little too far away and it didn’t go off
am i imagining things or did they reduce melee range on abilities this expansion?
Possibly, it feels like that, but I was playing paladin for a while and they are a mid-ranged caster melee as well, so perhaps you just got used to dk?
One thing to keep in mind is your level of comfort and ability with the class.
I mentioned prot paladins and monks; in general my experience has been more to the negative end, but I’ve certainly seen excellent prot paladins and brewmaster monks that held their own.
Just to confirm, yes Divine Toll is a noob proof when they can’t understand Line of Sight or what is an interrupt button.

What do you all think?
Join the Bear Pack.
Prot warrior, mountain thane. Cool as heck.
ngl i’m having a blast jumping, stomping, and shouting all over the place with lightning bolts everywhere.
although I play slayer on fury, which works, but I can’t help but it feels much less “heroic” than mountain thane or deathbringer
No one has clearly tanked with BDK before when they say “they’re spiky and harder to heal than warrior.”
So, I’ll inform you, BDK and Warrior are solid options for what you’re looking for.
The major difference here for folks that don’t understand that rapid fluctuation of HP is that BDK’s have almost if not 100% absolute control over their own HP.
Healers really should NOT try to heal them, put a HoT or shielding spells sure but then trust me, just forget about them.
Warriors are far more steady and have good Defensive cooldowns to be a negating damage master, which is an incredibly fun and rewarding playstyle as well.
There is ALWAYS strengths and weaknesses within these specs.
I primary tank with BDL, G.Druid and Prot.Paladin.
I tank less with War/Monk and none at all with DH.
If you’re looking for more true self-reliance, BDK is the preferred tank.
If you’re looking to push above your power level by a larger amount and desire heftier impactful CD’s, then War is a great choice.
For mobility I don’t find BDK some dreadful slog people make it out to be.
BDK for healers, look less at their health bar and more at their RP bar
That’s a whole lot of advice when we’re not even into S1 yet, there will be spec updates in 1.5 months, and the answer should have always been “play what you think is most fun”
considering that absolutely nothing is slowable and stunnable anymore it seems, go prot war.
block > absorb.
outside of that DKs have no CC that is worth anything, while at the very least wars have wrecking throw for barrier shred.
I don’t know I think I’m mainly just fishing for reinforcement of the decision that I’ve already made (Prot Warrior)
A simple rule for healing blood dk, treat their runic power bar as their HP rather than their HP. If the blood dk has runic power, he can deathstrike and should be fine in most cases. Howver if the blood dk has no runic power he is about to be screwed, as he cant deathstrike so he might die
And the other note, typically if a blood dk tank dies, they messed up somewhere, its usually not a healer mistake that costs a tank their life XD
3 pulls, a stun, best slow in the game, and a disorient. Blood has quite a bit of cc :3

but I’ve certainly seen excellent prot paladins
Prot Paladin is the easier one to play out of all tank. It’s a choice to play it or not, some good players just enjoy being a Paladin.

brewmaster monks that held their own
It’s doable but definitely harder. Brew gimmick often that you got to out gear the content you do. I have not touched it for TWW but from the Last Season, the problem pushing brew was that your stagger would go up faster than your drink CD.
everything immune to stun, that you actually need to stun in heroic and up though.
stun that trash mob doing no damage? sure.
stun that guy about to obliterate your team? you get to see that nice big “immune” message before everyone dies.
those dudes are also immune to the pulls, and the slows. : /
They run red for a good while on the big pulls. Perhaps there is some panic drinking happening?
Uncertain!
