Block new players from picking tank role

Every time I click queue for dungeons as tank it pops up in less than 30 sec. as tank there isn’t such a thing like “let’s
click queue and do something while I’m waiting”

not posting on main? cringe.

You’re the reason people are leaving this game to go play Final Fantasy XIV. How dare a new player want to have a sword and shield and learn how to tank from scratch.

We were all new once.

And references.

Are they being paid to play the game your way?

Why arent you leading by example then?

Roll more tanks, tank yourself.

Or, ya know, learn how to not be a raging dbag.

Did you try to level in BFA content? I hope not silly Darkmetas, BFA belongs to the new players now, don’t go there

How is a new player ever supposed to get experience tanking if they’re always blocked from it? Best way to learn is to dive right in and get the hands dirty…hic!

Group with friends/guildies

Good then let them roll tank out the gate then. Not their problem people are in a rush and want l33t tanks without the effort of sorting them out. …hic!

I’m not saying I agree with OP but there are ways around the LFD finder.

The LFD finder is specifically there for people like new players looking to actually find those guilds and friends…hic!

I don’t think that’s why it’s specifically there, are we talking about the same thing? When I say LFD finder I’m talking about the random dungeon finder. Is that where people are looking for friends? I would suggest to new people LF friends to use /1, /2 if they are on a non spammy server or /4, since there aren’t 1 or more other people waiting on you to perform your role I think it would be the more efficient route to building rapport and friendships in game.

I’m sorry but if people want “good tanks” then they should put in the effort to be with guildies, friends, or roll a tank themselves. When you hit up an LFD queue without a full group you accept the risk of bad tanks, dps, and healers cause it’s random…hic!

Right? It’s too easy to be a backseat tank though. xD

I agree, that’s why I always say if you want to level quick don’t Queue for dungeons, you could get into a bad group that wastes a good bit of your time.

You haven’t been in the same Plaguefall groups I have, then. I could barely keep up with some people’s pathing, let alone duplicate it if I had to lead myself.

Also, the second boss of Tirna Scithe is laughing at you.

I think people who aren’t willing to help their group members improve and learn are the ones who should be blocked from pugging, if anyone. You are not entitled to be grouped only with people who already know everything - that’s what RIO is for (at least in theory).

Specific trash mob abilities, too. I got kicked once (on my warrior I think) for getting feared in N NW. In hindsight I could have pulled that mob somewhere else – if I had known in advance it had a fear.

Of course most of the people who votekicked me for not knowing about that mob could have interrupted it themselves, if they did know about it. But it’s easier to blame the tank.

If I went through it on a DPS I doubt I’d know why the tank had pulled that particular mob the way they did, and I might not have even noticed the cast someone else interrupted. So “do the dungeon as a DPS first to learn it” doesn’t even work, aside from being an unreasonable demand.

I think the thread has value, because it immediately turned into AITA: WoW Edition and affirmed that most of the playerbase is not like this.

It’s why cross realm needs to be disabled for LFG, and LFR. There needs to be a real cost to just kicking people. Or you wind up with people treating each other as disposable objects.

I agree but we’re too far gone. It’s one of those things that’s just imbedded into the game now and to remove it will only cause more issues due to the bad PR Blizzard has received. I honestly don’t believe there’s any recovery to the game. And it’s not because of age.

The funny part is this works in FFXIV. I was joining dungeons as I got to them in the story. I would queue up and it would be my first time and everyone was extremely helpful and welcoming regardless of whether or not we wiped. The WoW playerbase just isn’t built for that because there needs to be a layer of accountability for being a jerk.
