BlizzCon 2019

I disagree and think it will be the opposite. 8.3 will get announced at Gamescom (Blizz dosen’t usually do much at E3) and the xpac will be Blizzcon.

The only way I see it going the way you say is if 8.2 really bombs and they are desperate to rush out the new xpac to draw back players.

Yeah, my sister-in-law travelled all the way from here in Australia to go to last years Blizzcon.

Which, tbh, I’d say was ill-advised even on an expansion announcement year, but last year was particularly bad experience. I think she’s still smarting from that.

Because innovation and imagination are a new thing? Obviously you’ve never watched an infomercial. The entire industry is based around selling you things you didn’t think you needed or wanted.

But I’ll just reserve this space for the upcoming complaints. Here’s a short list…

-Live tickets too expensive
-Virtual tickets too expensive
-Bonuses with ticket purchase are not good enough
-Developers are putting a positive spin on their work instead of admitting they suck at their jobs.
-Panels waste time talking about boring topics like art design, music design, voice actors, story telling, PvP, PvE, games I don’t play.
-I don’t like the live band.
-They didn’t announce WoW 9.0, WoW2, Diablo 4, StarCraft 3, and Overwatch 2.
-They announced all the above, but didn’t mention the one feature I think will cause the game to succeed or fail.
-The Blizzard store has not been closed.
-Why do we have to wait so long for 9.0?
-Why is 9.0 coming out so soon?
-Ion still hasn’t been fired?!

And personal insults don’t become you.

Just let me play wow on a phone this way i can actually spend more time playing the game :+1:

Of all the strange things I’ve heard said, this takes the cake. I don’t know why you would think that but it did not lol.

A giant stadium filled with middle aged men that may take showers bi-yearly.

I could see where he is coming from on that.

If you didn’t smell anything, they could have just had really good ventilation systems.

You do know that us nerds will groom ourselves for special events lol :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Pet battle on mobile.

Where did I insult you? I merely pointed out that your sarcasm is wasted.

Also, i’m not talking about innovation and imagination, I’m talking about a sales pitch. Complaints will indeed roll in, I never said they wouldn’t. However, confusion from poor communication will be limited.

You’ll need a phone to be allowed entry.

It would be nice, but I’m not sure they do. Maybe D4? Tough to tell how far along that is, with the reporting on how many times it’s been restarted. Maybe WoW? It’s hard to get excited for anything new from the WoW team, considering how badly BfA is going.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they tripled-down on eSports and made that the focus of the con.

Here…

I’ll have you know that sarcasm is one of my best qualities.

So the problem with Diablo Immortal was just the sales pitch? If they had better music or a fancier splash page it would have been better received? Maybe if they got Jay-Z to present it?

No. The issue was the playerbase didn’t get exactly what they wanted. And what they want seems to be a retread of old ideas instead of new ones. Diablo on mobile?! Heathens! It’s a PC game, it’s always been a PC game and should always be a PC game. WoW isn’t abandoning the Azerite system mid expansion and returning to the class design of 10 years ago? Blasphemy! We all know WoW would be great again if they just rereleased WotLK as 9.0.

What’s that?! Blizzard is rereleasing the original version of the game from 15 years ago with the promise to not change, innovate, imagine, or otherwise contribute an original thought? Perfection!

Also, I listen to Kid Rock’s ‘Devil Without a Cause’ album from 1998 on repeat every day because that was the pinnacle of music. Nothing since then has been any good.

I mean… you’re not wrong. But teasing Diablo for months…and announcing a mobile game at a very hardcore playerbase, whom heavy favors PC gaming, was a terrible decision. And that was totally fine. The issue was they didn’t give ANY information on Diablo 4, despite recently filling a respectable number of positions for Diablo projects.

But what made people really sour is that they outsourced much of the work to a company that isn’t “Blizzard.” They licensed their Diablo name and gave them permission to use their assets to effectively re-skin an existing game. From there, Diablo Immortal simply wasn’t a “Blizzard game.”

And that’s why Diablo’s 2018 BlizzCon was a disaster. No one cares about the mobile game, it’s all the hype they built up for the Diablo franchise only to effectively “not make the game themselves.” It’s not a passion project, it’s a money grab. And that’s why people were, rightfully, furious with Diablo’s 2018 panels.

Well mobile is… Mobile. One of the few avenues where you can dump 100 bones and have nothing to show for it. All blizzard had to do was look at command and conquer rivals as a barometer to the reception they were going to get.

Heck a freaking splash screen to diablo iv before immortal would’ve done better.

That was before as the poster above me stated…that’s it’s just a reskinned NetEase game.

That’s not an insult, that’s an observation based on what you typed.

As for the sales pitch, it doesn’t need to be fancy… But it needs to be sold properly. Yeah, directing a mobile game at a bunch of PC players wasn’t exactly the best thing to do.
In regards to the rest of your post, that’s just a diatribe of rhetoric and nonsense.

There’ll be an announcement alright…

WoW Immortal for the mobile market, Android and iPhone…

“Do you guys not have phones?”

Of note, Activision released CoD Mobile just over a week ago, so it could be that trend that they spoke of, of moving developers “to other projects”:

I’ll be purchasing a virtual ticket. Blizzcon is something you should totally experience once if you want. But for me it was just long lines.

Also the darkmoon faire, which is where you can buy a box of goodies and randomly get stuff, was all sold out. People would go, buy their max four boxes and get back in line.

It really stunk because when I went to go check it out the second day it was all sold out.
