Blizzard/WoW Should Embrace Streamers Rather Than Punish Them

Oh, so it’s charity based! I guess the fact that they usually do the carry for the people who “donate” is okay! :joy:

I think the adversarial relationship cultivated with streamers and other content creators, the playerbase, and their own employees has, over the years, been harmful to the company. But they can’t see that.

For example, the recent exchange with Wyatt Chen on whether DI is pay to win is a clear illustration of clever wording going directly to foot-in-mouth.

Not all streamers are the same. Lots of folks call themselves “streamers” and they have like 5 viewers (not saying this is you, haven’t looked you up). There’s a big difference between someone with 10,000 followers playing WOW and generating exposure for Blizzard and someone with 5 followers using WOW to grow their stream.

Except RMT sites due to claims they spam when in reality they don’t. They use the same account to put their adverts up. And they get away with it.

Its a double standard plain and simple.

I get it now! They are kind of cheating the system by claiming to “randomly” select viewers when in reality they are selling a carry for “donations”.

It’s a pretty good scheme no doubt.

I dunno could it be seen as an advertisment for monetary gain?? You do get money for subs if I understand correctly?

Im honestly not up on how streamers advertising in game is seen.

So blizzard cares more about one person sub over the thousands that love playing with streamers. It seems like you can’t even give me a real reason other than promote their channels even tho they don’t all they ask is to put your name in chat which isn’t much to ask. my opinion is the people that ‘‘report’’ streamers for advertisement are the people that didn’t get their ways with how games went. I personally think that blizzard needs to get their act in order before doing anything else with the streamer community.

Also wrong. No streamer asks for donations. Youre sounding like you’re looking for ammunition against streamers and have never bothered actually speaking to one, much less know how it works.

They only make money off of it if someone choses to donate.

It’s just common sense man. I literally spelled it out for you.

According to the Blues they don’t use the same accounts, they use the same char name on diff accounts. It makes it appear nothing is done, and that is intentional. Not sure if that makes it any better.

However, two wrong’s still don’t make a right.

Nobody is supposed to be advertising websites. Blizzard needs to finish cleaning up the group finder as well as continue handling reports about other types of website adverts.

It does not matter what the website is, or if it makes money. No advertising means no advertising.

Blizzard supported streamers for years always giving them Alpha passes and such. Even interviews at Blizcon. So don’t tell me they don’t kiss up to them. The forums don’t kiss up to them because many people on the forums have their own opinions of things and often more times than not do not agree with them. Specially the click bait that many of them use to just get money or up votes to be popular.

You insinuated we demand donations and i told you that you were wrong. Most individuals who even do carries getbpaid in WoW gold as it is legal, and while I dont agree with being carried in the first place they do that to avoid a ban. To assume that donations of any kind are forced is a silly assumption as the person who would be buying the carry would have to donate on their own accord. Anyone with common sense in streaming knows this, which is why we do not demand monetary support.

Where in the coc does it say streamers tho.
I see advertisement but streamers are not advertising as advertising means paying money.

No they don’t ask but I’ve seen with my own eyes that people who donate get picked for the carry.

I’m not saying all streamers do this but most that do viewer Carries do.

Show me where I said they forced people to donate for a carry… I’m saying they will “randomly” select someone who did donate.

Why wouldn’t they? It’s just good business.

No it does not mean money has to be paid. I could advertise my totally free website (if I had one) and would still get penalized when players rightfully reported me.

The Forum Code of Conduct does a better job of it. And no, they don’t consider advertising streams to be “for the benefit of Blizzard”.

Advertising

This category includes advertisement of:

  • Any non-beneficial, non-Blizzard related businesses, organizations, or websites

If a player is found to have participated in such actions, they will:

  • Be given a temporary ban from the forums, depending upon severity

If they told you the sky was green, would you believe them? We have no reason to falsify information that the same account queues up day in and day out with the exact same name and nothing is done about it. We queue into the same RMT teams in RBGs day in and day out as they purposefully drop CR so they can carry more people. Its common knowledge what is going on yet we’re simply deflecting it with “its spam” instead of tslking to people ingame and seeing ehat is actually going on. Were just assuming people who get reported are at fault since its easier.

Advertising is defined as the paid distribution of a controlled marketing message found in print ads, radio or TV broadcast, online, or via direct mail.

That is one form of advertising - however it does not need to be paid.

I will go with Blizzard’s on this. And no, someone’s stream is not for the benefit of Blizzard or part of Blizzard.

I’d prefer twitch streamers than boosters in LFG
