Blizzard's War Against Individual Play Styles

Exactly this. It almost seems like there are some designers on the team that think the game is a single player game. And some of the players must think this way as well if they are unsubbing when they believe they have reached that “ending”. As someone who has played MMORPGs for 20 years this makes no sense to me.

Good for you dude, get those achievements. That’s like, your play style man. I have a very different way of playing this game so we obviously can’t understand each other. We should leave it at that.

If I had any likes left you and the OP would get them.

O.o

Achievements are definitely NOT my thing. Could care less actually. Im not sure where your wires ate getting crossed.

Na I read activities as achieves for some reason. Lazy reading on my part.

Every single MMO in existence is basically like this.

If you think its a scam, stop playing. And walk away.

I do and I come back when it’s all out. I only have this sub for the dread wake mount I bought when I was drunk and surfing Facebook.

So even though you believe its a scam, you regularly still support the company and hang out on the forums?

Weird flex. But ok.

It’s better to just wait till all the content is out and jump back in to see everything. As for me supporting a scam, yeah so what? People do it all the time and don’t even know it, like Facebook users.

Its just weird that you have such a low opinion of Blizzard, you believe the game is a scam…yet you regularly pay for it.

Whenever I find something is a scam, I avoid it. Guess I am weird like that. I want nothing to do with someone that I feel is scamming me.

I get my monthly moneys worth easily, so its not a scam to me.

It wasn’t always a scam, I started in wrath so it was a little different for me. By the time I was lvl 80 TotC was out and it was extremely hard to get purples. It felt good to achieve the chance to run dungeons for purples.

If you compare then and now the lack of content now and just rehashing “content” through leveling for heritage armor it’s feels like a scam and the constant time gating MAKES IT A SCAM.

Imagine buying a lunch for 15$ and half way through it someone says, sorry but you gotta wait 4 hours to eat the rest of that and btw if you do wanna finish that lunch your gonna have to pay another 15$ for the rest. Like you are hungry and now you have to pay 15$ more even tho the lunch is right there. It’s just how scam video games have nowadays seems to be with all these DLCs getting pre orders before the game comes out and the game isn’t even a finished product on purpose. It’s the same scam but smaller.

That’s why I normally wait till I can eat the whole lunch for 15$ and maybe get some sides if I like it a lot. I’m the type of consumer that will still visit the taco shop I used to love but left due to bad service or food just to eat for the old times.

Nostalgia gets to me and I assume anyone who plays wow is hooked on the same thing.

Are you trying to imply that WotLK didn’t have time gated content? Or repetitive content?

Because I can tell you. It certainly did. Getting bored waiting on the next timegate on WotLK to open up was one of my factors with quitting during WotLK back in the day.

I never said it didnt, by the time I reached lvl 80 I’m dying that’s when TotC came out. My point was WotLK was so much bigger and more it didn’t feel like much was time gated because I was to preoccupied to notice.

After 8 point 1 I feel like I have too much to do if I want to be my version of success. Wow can be played on so many levels and be fun w/o pvp or pve progression, but here I am basically running teams of alts to keep my mains raiding. Plus I have to network to get kills so I can keep my raider Io score up so I can pug Mythic raids, so I am allowed to be on my guilds Mythic team.
Meanwhile, my RP friend is 111 and playing with their guild about the fall of Darnassus and gathering pretty flowers. Now who is having the most fun with the content?

I am talking about max level specifically. How once you reached max level in WotLK, it was still time gated.

After TotC came out? WotLK was still time gated.

Yeah because everyone was waiting on ICC. My point isn’t on max level is on overall content.

Maybe your right tho maybe mmos are not for me anymore. I’ve always been casual and dipping my toes into different parts of the game but never have enough time to go mythic or high rated pvp. Never really cared either tbh.

Thing is tho this expansion feels so hollow to me and the only content I have interest in end after just a few quests and now I gotta wait longer for it.

Then it’s not a scam for anyone but me who isn’t completely using the full potential of the game. An my memory of gated content is different from wrath since I didn’t completely understand it back then.

And it wasnt just waiting for ICC. It was waiting for each wing of ICC to slowly open up.

MMOs in general will always release content slowly. If I didn’t have plenty of people to play MMOs with, who I enjoyed their company…I would have left the genre long before WoW was even launched.

Its the social aspect that keeps me in MMOs more than anything. I have some long term friends I’ve made over the years, over various different games. MMOs, in general, would not keep me interested if I didn’t have a group of friends to regularly experience content with.

I wonder what it feels like to create content that loses your company 100 of millions in annual revenue, and then go on and cause it’s stock value to tank?

There’s not a single blizzard game now that is as successful as the original wow that was made by gamers for gamers. I think a case could be made that it is indeed a scam as they just applied for a patent for a method of keeping folks subscribed.

It’s manipulative and akin to what an illegal substance dealer does to his addicted customers. It is predatory in nature and nothing whatsoever to do with wanting to create what the advertised product is.

I totally get that. Sadly I never made friends in this game but in SWTOR I did and they will always be in my heart.

The thing about wrath was I didn’t get a chance to do ICC till after everything came out. The skill it took to get in was above me and I was cool with it. Now we have LFG which I feel like puts a disadvantage to making friends.

But my mentality is set in stone. I play this game solo, the guild I’m in was an attempt at raiding and getting better gear but that became obsolete when they just hand out free gear like nothing. So I feel no real reason to run raids when the next week a war front comes out I can sleep through and gear up.

This may be the most laughable post I’ve ever seen.

Hard to get epics in Wrath???

Lack of content? You do know wrath added nearly 0 world content the entire expansion Right? 2 full years and they managed to add some jousting dailies. Absolute fail in adding world content.

Rehashing content?? You mean like a full blown raid tier being a rehash of a vanilla raid? Not like the timewalking weekly events, but the actual raid people spent months in. It’s like if BfA launched with an AQ40 rehash rather than Uldir.
