You think they are going to close up shop over this? This is a billion dollar company we are talking about here, not some celebrity. They will at most fire a few people and write some new policies to combat these things going forward. The next expansion will then be announced and all of a sudden the streamers and players will come back like none of this even happened.

They will fire the entire Old Guard that remains and change the names of NPCs & Zones as well as rerecord all necessary Audio.

The Writers will hopefully get smart enough to stop naming NPCs, Items and Zones after themselves and their coworkers.

Heavy dose of copium. Bigger games and bigger companies have fallen, just because this is our one doesn’t mean it’s invincible. WoW has been on a 10 year downtrend, the game is clearly losing relevance, and when you add that with a delayed/underwhelming patch, livening competition, and this current debacle, it’s hard to imagine things bouncing back. The game still has some life in it, but WoW’s day is squarely over, the end will come sooner than we hoped.

They’ll do what almost every company does at this stage and find a scapegoat, scrapping everyone implicated would leave the company completely unable to function, they’d simultaneously have to close shop. Which isn’t impossible.

I’m not coping, I am just being realistic. You see these big companies get away with worse everyday and eventually it just seems to vanish as the news cycle moves on to something else. Give me an example of a bigger company or game that has fallen under similar circumstance and maybe I will change my opinion.
