I bought Solo on digital. It was an ok movie. But it still was something people didnt ask for and it lost money. The studio decided we wanted Solo. They ignored the people who talked about The Last Jedi. They pad the price. Than said it was fatigue. IDK about you, but I would easily watch 2-3 SW movies a year like I do Marvel. Not the movies the current Lucasfilm is producing though.
Captain marvel isnt out yet. Its based on a later version of the character that has a comic book that has been re-booted several times in the last few years because people dont buy it. Its being marketed under its the first woman super hero forgetting every woman super hero movie or action lead that came before it. If the story can stand on its own great. The marketing is relying on something other than the story though - and openly ignores history. I would rather have the African American woman that was the version of the character I liked in the 80s - not some white washed version of the 2000s.
A lot of comics today abandoned the majority of comic readers in order to try to reach a new market. The new market has yet to materialize and comics that sell today sell a LOT less copies than what use to sell. Again, see the comment above. If a comic keeps failing after multiple reboots, why keep trying to push it? Why not use those resources on something people actually want and would pay for?
There is a market for Diablo mobile. But again, no one is clamoring for it. They want the PC version. A PC could have been sold that day and made money that day.
Quit trying to decide for people what THEY want. Ask them. Shoot, so many are willing to tell you, you just have to LISTEN to them. A lot of this is a zero sum game.
If I spend to make a Diablo mobile, it delays the PC DIablo franchise.
IF I spend money making Solo, I cant make a movie the fans want.
If I spend moeny making the 8th version of Captain Marvel in 8 years, with low sales all years, I cant make a comic people will buy that will make the company money.
