Blizzard PLEASE give Herald some viable love for PVE

Gear comparisons just make your teeth itch, I swear. I’ll run the same +10-+12 4 times a week just to sway vault rewards.

I hope you get what you want… in this context specifically.

i mean im not saying its bad

im saying that it doesnt carry as much weight as people think it does, you can sim gear differences and people would realize its not that deep

:dracthyr_shrug:

yall are free to talk about it, but dont int yourself so early in the season by focusing on bis stats, thats all i ask

This is the main problem right here. As much as I like Herald thematically (Tauren paladins are Sunwalkers/Heralds of the Sun), its obvious that Templar was designed for Ret. It fits better with the spec in nearly every way for PVE.

-burst damage is almost always better

-burst healing is almost always better (and its free)

-a reliable buff to our sprint is almost always better than an unreliable movement speed buff

-the Templar tree even interacts better with the kit and thus usually scales better

Even if they are balanced perfectly Templar is still going to be better in practice most of the time.

I get it but that’s easy to say now since that’s what they’ve picked for it. If you’re going to make 1 a clear cut option then there shouldn’t be a choice at all. I understand that it’s a small percentage difference but there’s not really a choice on the better fit. Not like there should be.

I said way back when hero trees were announced that having two hero trees per spec was a bad idea. It was obvious that they would never be balanced and that people would be forced to pick the one that was better. I said that having two to choose from would only succeed in peeving off the people that wanted to play the lesser one.

People told me back then that I was wrong, and yet here we are.

I honestly feel like these apex talents is just a another way of Blizz doing the one “hero tree” per spec.

Its a shame because I’m sure some people would love to play Ret with the Herald spell vfx and look, even if they were pushing Templar buttons (I know I would)

Burning your enemies in holy flames sounds way cooler than magical hammers appearing out of nowhere. At least to me it does…

Imagine if Herald had some type of immolation aura effect where we just had a ring of fire around us. That would be pretty rad.

Oh absolutely. I picked Herald when I was leveling earlier on in TWW and loved the aesthetic of it far more than Templar. I have nothing against Templar personally and I’ll use whatever is best at the end of the day but the potential is there, they just need to tweak it a bit more.

Ditto. It’s the more paladin feel of the 2 if I’m honest.

I have a few alts but this is the one I grind seriously on. Eventually it’ll come down to BiS in a lot of ways but before I get to the final investment of it, it’ll need to be worth it.

They really just need to completely redo Sun’s Avatar at this point. It’s just so lame as a hero spec capstone (in my opinion) for BOTH ret and holy. I mean even just a simple ‘you radiant holy energy, damaging enemies and healing allies while Avenging Wrath is active’ would be more interesting than the current dumb spacenoodles.

Oh nononononono.

NOTHING is more iconic that a warhammer for paladins. It’s how we started out (Uther and Arthas) waaaay back when it was just Warcraft, it’s our very symbol, and it’s just damn cooler than spaghetti string visuals.

Gonna have to demote you and send you to the back of the class hall.

By the way, Arthas says hello at 12:25 point stamp and shows you how we do it Ol’ Skool…

The only reason why you can say what you’re saying right now is because judgements don’t come screaming from the sky to slam in to skulls like they used to and they gave us that with astroid sounds for EH. So I propose compromise: give us sky judgements back on herald. Lol

I like warhammers too, but you can’t deny that the Ashbringer is pretty Paladiny.

The only thing I wish they would do is make it to where each use of Divine Storm lowers the cooldown on Divine Toll by 1 second. Thats all. That would close, if not eliminate, the gap between Templar and Herald. That would put them both Neck and Neck with each other.

That would absolutely be insanely broken and kinda clunky
