Blizzard, make an official statement about Classic+

LMAO, the game’s barely two weeks old and you’re already bored? You’ve done everything there is?

If not then what “plans” are you wanting to make AT THIE TIME?

It’s ABSURD to expect Blizzard to say any more than they’ve said at this stage, there are MONTHS AND MONTHS of content releases listed in their ‘Plan’, PLENTY OF TIME for them to consider their next move after seeing what the players make of all the content currently scheduled for release.

This incessant drun-meat of MORE, MORE, MORE is ridiculous and I applaud Blizzard for IGNORING IT.

They already answered, just that many people didn’t like their answer.

They are open to it and are neither for or against it . But they cannot make that decision yet as it is dependent on information that won’t be available yet for another 6-12 months down the road.

It’d be a bad idea for Blizzard to give an official statement on this right now.

Either they give a concrete answer one way or the other and likely have to backpedal, or much more likely they give an indecisive answer which changes nothing.

That’s so weak. You’re the one who made the claim that:
They have made several official statements. From day one, they have said, whenever asked, that they will consider it at a later stage, and their answer will depend upon the temperature of the community.

Now when challenged to front up with actual links and evidence you duck and weave. So thanks for underscoring my point. Nothing official has ever been said, and in fact apart from complete silence previous communication has implied it will never happen.

You totally win.

You’re still ducking and weaving out of answering me about where you get the data demonstrating that most people would oppose such new content and secondly where did blizzard say that it will never happen?

I haven’t ever really “dived” into WoW for all these years I’ve played other MMOs that came after WoW. I guess i saved the best for last! Loving classic and will probably go retail after awhile as well. Well…there was always that reason that i kept denying myself the whole time to play this game. “Why could millions of gamers be wrong?” I have played Warcraft I, II, III and Starcraft I, II but always avoided WoW. Glad they did classic to finally say “thats it” and become the famous Leroy I have heard so much about. Cheers!

Taliesin did a video about Classic + and it doesn’t sound too bad. Like mostly adding content that was intended for classic but never got fully developed.

Okay dude, let’s do this slowly as you’re not reading what I’m writing correctly.

The “data” is the Classic community that got the game on the table. If you have been reading here, Reddit, or watching any of the streamers who made it happen, the vast majority want Classic to remain untouched and not even advance to BC (as it completely invalidated everything before it, in usual Blizzard fashion). It’s only the Retailers who have jumped across who are making all this noise, and even then only a vocal few on these forums.

Secondly, I never said Blizzard said it would “never happen”. I said everything they have said up to this point implies that. I could create a cascade of links here to support that, but what you need to do is watch this (it’s minimum effort to take part in a discussion on this topic by the way, and none of you seem to have yet done it):

Restoring History: Creating WoW Classic

So what you’re saying is that you don’t actually have any data proving your point besides “I read on Reddit”. You flat out rejected the “proof” you were given because you had never heard of the dev. And yet all you have to back up your claim is what you read in online echo chambers and a link to a video of a dev that works with the other dev that apparently wasn’t good enough for you? Again, I’d trust a wow dev saying “nothing is off the table” over some dude who read sh*t online.

Did you watch the video?

Did you read the interview?

So you didn’t. As usual you guys are all bluster and unsubstantiated opinion, and can’t even be bothered to research the very things you say you’re quoting.

Yes, I read the interview. I’ve read most interviews about WoW Classic. I signed the petition that helped get it on the table. I played Vanilla from Beta, and through WotLK until Blizzard’s deconstruction of their own game by devs who no longer understood why the original game was great (beta was even better by the way) destroyed all the things that made it great. I wrote articles about why I thought WoW had failed, and had them published on game industry websites.

My opinion is based on something, not just drawn out of the social media ether.

I watched your video several times, it’s almost 2 years old now.

And that’s just it, it’s your opinion, it’s not facts. The fact is that a real wow dev, whether you know of him or not, has said that nothing was off the table. I never once gave me opinion on the matter. All I’m saying is that someone who knows more than you or I, said it wasn’t impossible. That trumps your opinion as to whether or not it should happen.

When did you watch it. Just now? It’s 47 minutes long. I posted the link exactly 18 minutes ago.

Now you’re moving the goalposts though, and strawmanning. Fair enough. My point’s been made.

wtf are you talking about, you linked a blizzcon video. Or are you implying that you just created that video and that I couldn’t possibly have watched it before just now? Ducking and weaving again I see.

10x xp servers or Insta 60 servers for us normies that hate spending 150 hours doing chores to be able to fianlly play the game. The grind is so demoralizing, was fine at 20. But at 35… come on man.

And no, I hate retail, can’t play that.

Exactly. I don’t have to watch it tonight because I’ve already watched it three times over the wait for Classic.

Just stop tossing treats at the troll. He wants to fight with someone on the internet about nothing. I’m just finishing my bedtime coffee and cookie thinking, “Thank goodness I’m not determined to be angry about everything.”

You tried. I tried. There’s no point.

Sorry, I misunderstood your meaning in the context of our dialogue. Well, if you’ve watched it you’d know the extra-ordinary lengths they have gone through to maintain the veracity of the game, and how acutely aware of the tone of the Classic community they are. That video is consistent with everything else that has been communicated except that one random dev with his offhand comment. It means nothing until it’s corroborated officially. Thus far there is nothing but silence in response to many questions on “classic+” - including during the direct AMA.

So, it means little, and the Classic community is passionately against any changes to the client at all. It’s mostly just noise from the post-launch players.

It may happen, it may not. But the initial Classic community is very much against it, and if it ever does happen, they are going to lose most of them to private servers again. Today’s Blizzard is incapable of reproducing Classic level content. They don’t even understand why it’s better, because it can’t be created through spreadsheets and data-driven design.

On that point, and if you haven’t already seen it, I highly recommend this video:
