Blizzard, just be honest with us about Pathfinder

I heard exactly 0 cheers and all boos.

We all know it’s a punishment and before those who scream “it’s a comprise!”, no it’s not. A comprise is when 2 sides agree to something. Pathfinder is the result of “we are removing flight going forward” ended with massive sub loss. Plain and simple. They put in it in punish the player bases who got mad over flight. We all know this and anything else anyone says is dishonest.

I definitely heard some cheers in there.

The problem is most people did not watch the actual stream (and weren’t at the event) and have only seen the phone video which (for obvious reasons) only caught the audio of the people closest to the person recording it. Auditorium wide, though, you are right it was mixed and that was precisely why he said what he did about if everyone is a little unhappy then it is probably the correct choice.

That’s an artificial goal post. Tanaan Jungle was part of Draenor, Broken Isle is part of Legion and Nazjatar is part of BfA.

I watched the actual stream and there were no cheers, only boos.

I don’t think the long waiting is pure spite. I believe the world is not ready for flight before that.
Pathfinder itself probably.

Then you should get your ears cleaned because there absolutely was a mix.

Again, several of us (including myself) watched the stream.

It was mixed. I heard both.

Perhaps you are only hearing what you want to hear?

Pretty much this.

I am in the “I think we have to wait too long between P1 and P2” camp, and being perfectly honest I wish P2 didn’t exist at all. BUT… I am not going to live in denial of reality because of that.

Yeah… I listened twice. I didn’t hear any cheers.

I don’t know what to tell you, I only heard boos. :woman_shrugging:

Except Ion really is not being honest. His comment after the booing about how it was the “compromise” is patently false when Blizzard blatantly tried removing flight in future expansions and dropped the news on a Friday afternoon on a gaming blog. The forums erupted, people cancelled their subs, and Blizzard was left with egg on their face to admit it was a stupidly short sighted move.

Draenor Pathfinder, when it was finally introduced, was clearly a grudging and petty version forcing people to do some of the most trite things (like the treasure finding) just to enforce that people played the way the DEVS wanted, not their own. It was fortunately lightened with Legion and BFA, but don’t be ingenuous and act like this is what players asked for or ever wanted from the start.

Pathfinder itself is a decent enough concept, if and when Blizzard chooses not to drag and dig in their heels stubbornly to make players wait for their precious time metrics. If the achievement was live and available at expansion launch, people would have it immediately. It’s not the chore, it’s the drudgery that goes with it.

If they wanted to do that they’d just take away flying in current content and move it to legacy content only. That’s not what they did, though.

If they did that it’d be WoD all over again and people would quit en masse.

Slowing people down is all its about. Seems that is all they have been interested in over the last several years. Flying was never a issue when they made content that people didn’t mind sticking around for, and made flight useful to have. Funny part is even though they try, and use pathfinder as a way to slow people down, folks still blaze through their content regardless of flight lol. You aint gonna stop the addicts from addicting gizzard lol.

It’s a shame how this mistake has caused trouble not only for players who are minorly inconvenienced, but developers having to be hindered and hobbled in how they can develop zones expansion after expansion since its implementation.

The sad part is I play the game more when I can fly. I’m out in the world doing all the content. I don’t play the game at all when flying isn’t available because it’s not enjoyable at all for me.

And it’s why I’m not going to pre-purchase SL, and I’m going to unsub as close to launch day as I can. Square is going to get my MMO money from then on, unless a miracle happens and Ion is removed from the driver’s seat. I might be back, but not until 6 weeks before flight is fully available. I’m not going to pay blizz to punish me a 4th time.
