It’s time blizzard… alliance and horde can group together for raids and dungeons…
Technically this shouldn’t be an issue with lore cause there has been enough events where horde and alliance cooperate against the greater evil.
And for shadowlands, we are both the maw walkers.
On a technical side, this would solve your issue of not enough players on alliance for groups and raids.

since this has lead to many mini topics…
- this shouldn’t change for open world… and doesn’t mean horde should walk into alliance cities or alliance walk into horde videos.
- any else see the linear story? “Alliance bad, me smash” and “horde evil, me destroy”.
The story can seriously expand a lot more when we can start grouping for limited activities like dungeons and raids =P it’s no longer about which side is evil but which said will do what to protect themselves and killing the other isn’t always the answer.

Honestly imagine the story expands… there is an actual treaty and horde and alliance can work together in the dungeons and raids.
Now one side may not go around killing the other but does a lot of shady things in the back to try and reign control and dominance over the other fraction. To control them like salves… them over time, prob another xpact it gets all spilled out and we have some fraction wars. This can easily align with the wow narrative lore.
How does pvp fit in then? Well there are always outliers. The generals on each side who refuse to adapt to the treaty and fight the other fraction. It would fit in that you support these generals so you join the pvp fight for cause. As for the mercenary, it can be changed to be “spy” and fight with the other fraction to gain intel. =P
Like it if you like it, hate it if you hate it. It’s just a possible way for the lore to go.

Yeah, only bad thing is they have to stop using “faction conflict” as a lazy resort to expansion conflicts. Which is actually a good thing.

I don’t want to suddenly be able to communicate with all the gnomes I’ve been petting. Seems really awkward. Like you dog suddenly gaining the ability to talk.

It is not uprooting anything. Everything would be exactly as it is. But when you put together your own group for dungeons and raids, you have a choice of more people. That is all.

Right now we can queue as the other fraction for rbgs and stuff. What’s the difference when it comes to things like raid and dungeons?
I’m not saying we need to be friends, I’m saying that lore wise our goals align.

You seem to not understand what making anything cross faction would mean. The factions being separate are the literal only thing which has been consistent since WoW was released.
You can’t just “Make groups cross faction” without changing WoW itself. Factions being separate are part of WoW, and always will be.
You want united factions? Wait until WoW 2. As in, it never is going to happen.

They could still use BGs as regional conflicts . Just because groups may work together doesn’t mean they can’t have some conflicts .
Another thing they can do is have minor conflicts added in when one alliance race is having a dispute with a horde race but neither faction feels they need to use forces of their combined armies to handle the situation .

I mean, at this point the only thing the faction divide is used for is for a faction war every other xpac that is over two patches later.

This is untrue. In a group, things are not the same. Language barrier can be brought down solely for the group itself. Nothing outside of the group would be different.
Factions would still be separate. Nothing would change, except for groups in dungeons and raids.
